Book snobs are the worst. A book is a book, I mean...what the heck?! Lol.School ultimately harmed my enjoyment of reading.
Being told 'what doesn't count as a real book'. Being forced into reading books that I had no interest in. Given reading projects during seasonal breaks.
Apparently less and less children are reading for enjoyment. Of course the 'generational blaming' will happen, but I think something has to change with the curriculum :c
I'm finally starting to enjoy it again. Knowing I can just go pick up a comic and not get yelled at or invalidated.

This literally happened to me and a school librarian because I was checking out a bunch of manga books at once. Umm…I was reading a series! And then she told me I could read some of these novels that won awards, etc.School ultimately harmed my enjoyment of reading.

That kinda reminds me of my sister and one of her art teachers. She was told that her cartoony drawing isn’t real art. If something can’t be defined as “art” or “book” because it doesn’t follow the strict traditional definition, then that’s not good.School ultimately harmed my enjoyment of reading.

yeah I can't get myself to enjoy reading because of the forced reading that I had to do in school. I do like to read, as I'll sit and read articles on things that interest me for hours. but reading a book, I just can't do it. it was like a punishment at school. I'm almost feeling the same way about playing piano, which is awful because I love playing piano and am professionally trained. maybe teachers should be more considerate of their students.School ultimately harmed my enjoyment of reading.
