You've just spent an hour and a half plot resetting to get a new villager to move into a perfect spot. They move in after a long time and you sigh in relief. You save the game and check the sign. The villager thats moving in...is Hippeux (or Harry or Angus or Al, etc).

I don't plot reset so I don't know if this is possible...but if this happened, what would you do? Would you just deal with it and let Hippeux move in? Or would you reset for another long hour and a half?

Well considering that you said they saved, it doesn't matter if they want them or not, once you save, that's it.

You said you save, so you couldn't keep resetting. But I'd probably keep going. I'd rather have a decent villager in an OK space than a horrid villager in a decent space.
For the record, I do not plot reset but :3

Oh wow. If that happened to me, I would definitely keep going. I would not want that abomination in my town.

I take whoever the game gives me wherever they put their plot. I might not like where they put their house, but I make the most of it. All villagers are welcome in my town and I hope to have every single villager that New Leaf has living in my town at some point.

Ugh. I know. Once, I asked Erik to move in from another town and spent the next morning plot resetting until he was right next to my house <3. Then, I checked the sign and it was Butch!!! D: I learned to like Butch and meanwhile, he has moved and Erik moved in for him, but I was so shocked!

I would keep going, but seeing as you said you saved you can't.. D;

I don't plot reset, but if I did, I'd leave it. Probably shed tons of tears in the process and drill a hole in my new leaf cartridge, nothing too crazy.

You can't reset any more once you save. Hippeux or whoever would be stuck there.

I don't plot reset for villagers I don't know are moving in. I reset for plots of my dreamies I've asked to move in from other towns, but I've never reset when the 9th villager is moving in. I tried once and got bored after 15 minutes. I feel like it would be dumb to not check the sign though. Most people reset for dreamies, like Marshal or Marina, because they don't want to pay the price in bells, so they'll spend the time reloading.

people getting mad about things not going their way in a SIMS gamein which you dont have total god control. come on guys. i know some people treat their towns as art, and most are, but guys a true artist could manage to work around it.

what im saying is, make some lemonaide!

Good luck resetting once you save!
I would not stop for villagers even if they move into a good place, I would hate to have Al or Harry
It would be an eyesore T-T

This is why everytime I get a space in my main town I cycle myself (or occasionally look on here) a villager to move in. Then you can plot reset and just focus on the placement to speed it up. ~ and even then before I save I paranoidly check it is the right villager. Not risking the random generator in my main town.

Though I'm not fussy with exact placement. So long as they end up in the rough right area and not directly infront of my house or anything stupid like that.

As far as I'm concerned, if it's a random move-in, you have a choice: reset for villager, or reset for plot location. You can't do both. If you try for a better location, it's going to be a different animal. I don't see how that would work.

Can I jump on with a couple of opinion questions?

1. If you had 8 villagers and were resetting for the random villager and ended up with a bad random move-in, but you really liked the camper, would you go ahead and save? If a plot is down, you could still ask the camper to move in, right? I was resetting just now and had a camper and a plot, so it seems like a scenario that could happen.

2. If you really, really liked the location of all ten houses in your village, would you keep a villager even if you didn't like them? Or, would you reset for hours if necessary to get the new person in the exact place as the one you let leave?

1. I had this happen to me before. I had precious Marina show up in my camp, but Molly had her plot down in a terrible place and I don't like ducks at all. I shed a tiny little tear before saying goodbye to Marina and kept resetting. I ended up getting Lolly in a pretty good spot and trading her for Marina so it all worked out. And yes, you could ask them to move in.

2. I would probably reset for hours lol. I did that for 5+ hours with Chrissy to get her into a good spot. I gave up though so while she's not where I ideally want her to be, she's not in a bad place either.

And I think at least as mayor, we should be able to at least decide where villagers move in. It makes total sense. x:

I would live with it. Only the Stitches, superheroes (Kid Cat, Agent S...) and the ostridges I couldn't bear to live with.

If I had influence at Nintendo, I would have it where the morning a plot is going to go down, Nook is at your door and he takes you to about four random spots and lets you pick. There would be a little bit of flexibility in the general area (you could tell him to move the space a few steps up, down, etc.), but those would be the four spots. If you didn't like the spots, you could always close down and load back up, but at least you wouldn't just be surprised with a plot.

Under this system, the villager reset trick would still work if you started as a new character, since Nook wouldn't be willing to work with a non-mayor. Also, you could opt out if you just don't want to be involved, at which point Nook would say, "Come talk to me at my shop if you want to have a say in the future."

People say they have come to hate a villager for putting a plot in a bad spot, but I blame Nook. He works with the mayor and your other characters, but the others are just moving in blind and he picks for them. :)

I was planning on doing a plot reset for a random 9th villager, but forgot to. When I loaded the next day Marshal had setup his house in an okay spot. He's cute and all, but I didn't really want him. -_- I'm not much into the super popular villagers (only Diana has grown on me a bit) I will let him move after a while, and will likely have a 'nearby' friend take him for free as I have wifi connection issues (though only with visiting towns, dream suite etc. all work fine)
