The last villager to move in can ask to leave! So don't feel like whoever moves in will have to be a permanent villager.

Based on your description of your town I would say Pecan or Mint. Pecan because she's very natural looking and Mint because her colour scheme compliments natural colours.

Thanks for saying this!! I kept hearing it wasn't possible and now reading this I decided to search around the forum and found two threads discussing it where some people say their last didn't ask but others say they did so it must just be a lower chance (or bad luck for those) feeling much better about deciding now aha!

I know you didn't consider her as an option but I have to say, Diana is the perfect snooty. The personality suits her very well, and her design is gorgeous

I love Diana so much but she also falls into the 'I only want one animal per species' Zell is one of my favourites so he takes the deer place.

Went with Willow! If I didn't have her in New Leaf, I would've definitely adopted her in New Horizons <3 (my mantra is to not adopt villagers I used to have in NL, lol). I super love her design, she's so cute!

Second option would be Blanche, she's suuuuper cute too.

Pecan has been one of my favourite snootys since WW (she’s still in my village after all these years!) She’s one of the best designed squirrels imo. I would also suggest Blaire too (I always thought she was normal tho??)

I voted Mint but I'm kinda biased and have been wanting her since I've never really had her in a town yet.

Blanche is really awesome too and really elegant looking.

another vote for blaire from me. her house exterior's has the natural + neutral palette and i think that's look wonderful on your island from the short description. plus she's pretty cute imo! her little nose is so boopable lol
