If you were passing notes, reading aloud wouldn't be so bad...but personal text messages? That's just sly tbh. But that's teachers for you. >.>

I don't have a problem with teachers reading my texts. All I have to do is take out the battery. If they tell me to put it back in its not a problem becasue it just got turned off and I have a lock on my phone.

Yes, I'm paranoid.

they are so GD nosey!!

but one of my cool teachers,(science) said that ''as teachers, we have the right to throw your phone on the ground and stomp on it.''

but hes cool. so he just said put it on silence =p

Cell phones cause cancer.
Is it proven though?

I've heard that somewhere, but I can't remember where. (:
It would take like 30 years to get it, cell phones are mini microwaves you put right next to your brain.

Bluetooth is the answer :D
you still get microwaves

So far mine hasn't gotten taken away yet. But I rarely take it to school and I never use it in class. But I do have random people calling me sometimes (lol their from California! XD)
But I did have a time it rang in class. Ok so me and my friend are in two separate High Schools that are right beside each other. Sometimes he'd call me or I'd call him at lunch so we could meet up and chat. So anyway I forgot that this day that he had a PD day and I called him up at lunch as usual thinking he was a school as well (turns out he was at home). So I asked him: "Do you want to go outside?" and he said: "No I can't, I'm busy now". So thinking that he was at school, I said "Ok, call when you can". So he thought I was at home and I thought he was at school. So I was in my Math class (which is after lunch that day). So since he was unaware I was at school he called, DURING MY MATH CLASS! And that day my phone was off silent mode by accident. The phone rang loudly and luckily my Math teacher was nice and said: "Go put in your locker".
But if a teacher did ask me to give it to them, it'd get pretty ugly as I'm a VERY stubborn person especially when it comes to letting someone handle my property!

whenever someones phone goes off our whole class like starts singing like "lalalala" or caughing and just making random noise so they don't get caught

there really is no reason for a phone in school. even if you miss the bus, use a teacher's phone or one in the office to call your parents. i didn't have a cell phone until i was 16, and i had to leave it in the car at all times (crappy pre paid a decade ago). we survived!
plus it really makes me mad to see a 12 year old kid with a way better phone than me :)
the only reason i can see for giving a kid a cell phone is to have a gps tracker on it to know where they are.

I'm pretty sure they don't. Because if they do, then Wii Remotes are giving off those waves too because they are using Bluetooth to connect.

i'm just kidding about really getting mad. i live in a resort town and i used to see rich 10 year old kids with iphones, it just seemed a bit excessive. what does a young kid need with a fancy phone? kids that young are just gonna break it or lose it. it just seems like an awful amount of money to invest in electronic equipment that, chances are, will be dropped and broken in a month.

I wish everyone got their phones confiscated... There's no need to have a phone at school. There's no need to have a cell phone, period, actually. It's just a waste of money.
Says you, and most of us don't give a *censored.2.0* what you have to say.

I've gotten mine taken because it fell out of my pocket, and when I realized I lost it, it had already been taken.
