I'm very picky about my town. I have my reasons, but long story short I'm not above ripping out a completed chuck of my town and redoing it to make up for tiny imperfections.
It can be good because my town ends up pretty intricate, and when something is complete it's really organized and satisfying. It has downsides too though...

I've been trying to get Rudy into a decent house spot for two and a half hours. ;o;
It's driving me crazy but I really like him and I'd hate to end up kicking him out later because I didn't like his spot.

So, I need something to do while finish trying to find him a spot. As I've been reseting I've been wondering how often other people go through this kind of thing? It's a daily problem in my town when I make pretty much any decision. >///>;

tl;dr : What do other people like to obsess over in their villages?

I've reset for days before to get my dream neighbors in the perfect spot, so you're not alone! There were a few times that I gave in and settled for a less-than-perfect location, and now those imperfections continue to bug me, so I regret giving in. :P And imperfections I can't control, like rocks and such, bug me a lot as well, but I try to look past them. So I guess I am a perfectionist as well! :) I agree with you on the pros and cons; on the pro side, some aspects of our towns are very intricate because we spend so much time making them perfect, but it can also be frustrating at times to accept the imperfect things.

Good luck with getting a house location for Rudy you like! :)

Exactly! It's so tempting to let them just move in somewhere random after two hours ;^;
I know I won't be able to handle it down the road though.

I finally got Rudy into the perfect spot :D

I resetted three weeks for the perfect map.

Now I find out that it's not 100% perfect. In all places where I want to put my alt's house, there is always one single tile missing to make me able to (or, if I'm able to, it's one tile too close to the river to put a bridge). X___X

Ironically enough the map was the only thing I haven't reset a single time. I knew if I went down that path I wouldn't get to start playing for weeks either XD
I can't even imagine how frustrating it would be to think it's perfect and get started only to find out it's not though.
(I like your taste in villagers btw :>)

I remember in my old town, I'd make sure to get all the PWP's I wanted to place in certain spots first before moving any of the villagers/dreamies into the town. They could move in wherever they want (..sometimes) and when I thought it was finished I'd start laying down the paths and breeding the flowers. I think I was pretty OCD about it back then.

But now I'm not because It's boring to do and takes way too long.

I think I'm not too picky when it comes to how my town looks. I guess I prefer some villagers over others, but I don't really care how the town looks. I haven't even taken the time to set down paths.

I obsess over flowers, I want to go into another town and think "My town is just as good"

I also obsess over villager placement

Of course resetting for a perfect map was an absolute nightmare for me.

I usually stress out over every little thing. Path placement, flower placement. Tree placement and villager placement isn't something I care about right now. I also stress out over the shells on the beach, oddly enough... I try not to touch them, but if I accidentally pick one up, I have to pick up and sell every shell on the beach.

I don't obsess over much. I didn't reset for a perfect map, and I don't do the villager plot-reset trick... The only thing I focus on is the placement of my trees so that my path is still visible among the trees.
