theres always talk of them hopefully adding new buildings/shops to the game eventually (though probably not as soon as people want, me included:( ). i'd say im about 80%+ finished with my town and while i am somewhat running out of things to do i was planning to essentially demolish my huge flower farm seeing as i only have 3 hybrids left to breed. however the farm is in a good placeholder spot for any new buildings as its right behind nooks but i don't want to decorate around a "new building" spot and have the building end up being the wrong dimensions and having to change everything. god, anyways that was long this is my question:

If you haven't already set aside a spot for future buildings what will you do once/if they do come out?

If they do that I guess it's time to bulldoze my town for the second time and redo all the tedious, stress inducing terraforming... lol

Redo some areas of course.
We have the tools, as far as I'm concerned my island is never finished, I keep redoing mine with better and better ideas.

My island is 70% complete right now (basically the garden isn't done and minor details that kinda add up lol) and I plan to keep all of the shops on the main island with the airport and Resident Services building. I plan to mirror my current area with Nooks/Ables on the other side of Resident Services so it's uniform where a cafe currently is. I also have some room in other areas that I could maybe squeeze the buildings into.

when I planned out my island I made sure there were a couple areas that weren't really all too important (just looks nice, wouldn't care if it was replaced) in case they add any new buildings, so I can just plonk em there c:

If they do that, I’ll have to make a bunch of changes to the layout, but the good thing is that my island is 30% finished, but it’ll still change whether they add more or not.

I made my island with future updates in mind, at least for the first two buildings which I’m hoping are Kicks and The Roost. I have two plots of land that look as if they’re under construction, with cones, a construction sign, and diy tables.

i have tried to account for pretty much everything in the data mines with my current island setup! i have two well sized features i like but that i’m not married to which i strategically placed so that they could be replaced with new buildings if necessary. i also made a little farm area which is currently empty/used for turnips but which i could turn into future real farming if it does get added.

My island is empty, because i don't really wanna do anything till there are more buildings/shops added!
I'm sticking with a parking lot for now! also cause I've tore down and redone my whole island 4 times, and I'm tired of being stressed about it, so not worth!

I'm waiting for the wedding items for the possible fencing and my island will probably be around 70% complete. I have some space for new buildings for now but we'll see!

honestly, i'm not trying to be rude, but with this game--i don't think we should be finishing our islands or making it done/permanent... with 3 years of updates, we're bound to get new additions. we should be flexible for the things that are coming. i don't see it as a problem, but an opportunity to keep the game fresh.

I actually have 2-4 spaces to accomodate bldgs. BUT IF THEY HAD 2 BUILDINGS GO MUSEUM SIZE I WOULD TEAR THE EARTH IN HALF WITH MY RAW UNFILTERED ANGER.

Hopefully they won't do that. I hate terraforming with every atom of my being and if they tryna play coy with us by withholding building dimensions for 3 years, I'd be having a mental breakdown having to dismantle my island way too often than I should.

I'm currently completely renovating my island (not currently happy with what I've done, so I'm tearing it all down and re-doing it) and have been taking this into consideration.

My current solution is to have houses as placements. I use my extra profiles to build a house and put it on my island -- my biggest example being a cafe. I heard that Brewster has a large possibility of getting a cafe, so I have a home that is a "placement" for Brewster, but still gives the ability to be a cafe for now so it isn't just ugly, blank space. When/If Brewster's cafe comes, I'll destroy the home, or keep it as a placement for something else if the cafe goes to the museum.

I also have a free space prepared for Leif's potential shop, and some others as well.

It won't be the end of the world for me, thankfully. There are sacrifices on my island I'm willing to make if the time comes. I learned my mistake from Redd!

My island had been laid out for convenience for now. I have my shops next to the plaza so visitors can get straight to it and not have to wander around looking for them.

However, my initial plan was to have a shopping district in the centre of my island where there's a good sized area mostly surrounded by the rivers so if we get more shops, I'll just revisit that plan and move everything there.

I just redesigned my island the other day a bit and if they gonna add new buildings, I just have to get rid off a not so important spot where only a bigger sea exist right now and I would have plenty of space available then without changing up my main spots which I want to stay like they are right now. I'm pretty much prepared for any new buildings, lol.

I hope they give us an island expansion because they also said we'll not only get more buildings, but more villagers as well and I can't fit everything in the island.
