People get so offended when somebody insults their favorite villager

I'm one of those people who ask why Marshal is so popular. xD

The reason for that is simple. WHY IS HE SO POPULAR? Is it due to everyone aboarding the hype train? Or does everyone truly want him?

The three most common reasons for why characters like Marshal are popular

1.Their design is considered cute or unique by a large amount of people
2.They have furniture in their house that a lot of people want.Marshal has sloppy furniture and the sloppy set is unbuyable.
3.They're a new character so naturally there are going to be a lot of people that are excited for them.

In my opinion it would be kind of dumb to want a popular villager that you don't really want just because everyone else wants them.Though if your doing that to help someone get their dreamie then that's different.

I personally don't get offended if someone insults a villager a like.I don't like a villager based on their popularity I like them based on my experience with them.Though all the "Why is X so popular" threads are annoying to be,epically if it's clear that the person who made the thread is just trying to start a flame war.

Nicely summed up! I only sometimes try hard to get a popular villager so I can give him or her away to someone who wants that villager badly.

And yes, the amount of these threads aren't surprising in one way since many threads even a few hours old get pushed way back in pagination, but some are worded as such that they do seem to just want to start a flame war.

I only would get slightly offended if someone actually comes to my town and bags out my villagers. If someone just posts online saying they don't like them, I don't care.

I actually had one friend who did that a lot with some of my villagers. I remember being excited about getting Rosie and he was going on about how overrated she is. Well, 2 weeks later and he's always talking her and begging me to give her to him (like that's going to happen ).

Still, I don't get hugely offended, even though I found my friend's comments a bit annoying. My opinion is that as long as I like my villagers, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

well imo having a villager as your religion is really stupid

I'm an atheist and I think that its in a way the exact same as having a real god or being in a realreligion. Although the church of bob thing is called a religion really we just love bob but we take it to an extent that many people hate. As I don't believe in a god, I think it's just people worshiping, loving and caring about something made up. That's what we do in the church of bob. I'm just expressing my opinion as have you so let's not start an arguement oh and if I offended you, I'm really sorry it was not at all intentional, I have nothing against religious people

I don't have anything against religious people, either, except when they try to push their beliefs onto others and/or harm other people.

That said, I still just like the villagers I like and it doesn't matter to me one way or another what villagers other people like. Sometimes I may want an opinion, however, when I build up my town theme more as to who will fit that theme better. I do enjoy friendly discussion and differing viewpoints.
