People don't get us!

I have had a few people ask why I play it because it sounds weird. I just say that they don't know unless they try. Every person I have made play the game has ended up loving it.

Me too. About 5 people. Nintendo should pay me.

I'm a little asian chick who is known to put out a ton of effort into her work. You simply don't question me about my taste in videogames. If you do, I go all philosophical on you, lol.

I don't usually talk about the games I play but I actually caused a friend to want to start playing New Leaf. She told me that she's gonna get a 3DS no matter what.

I've gotten 2 people to play New Leaf so far. That being said, I've tried to explain the game to my coworkers on a few occasions but they don't understand it. They say it just sounds like Farmville, which I can't say because I've never played.

Nobody cares or know that I am playing Animal Crossing, but if they ask, I don't mind telling. I don't care if they laugh. My non-gamer friend laugh at everything I play, ACNL, COD, AC4, SIMS 3 blahhh whatever~

A lot of my friends think animal crossing is a silly game. I got my brother to play the Wii version for a while but he said he only bought it for when I visited him in Australia. I only have two friends in real life (that are around my age) that play. But a lot of the games I've played I had to go online to find friends to play with since none of my friends in real life would give it a chance :p

When I was explaining to my best friend that I was trying to get a villager to move out, she'd ask "why can't you just evict her, you're the mayor aren't you?" IF ONLY IT WAS THAT SIMPLE!!!

I wouldn't call being into fashion being childish, but I wouldn't call it mature either. Just like I don't think of ACNL as mature or immature. They're both just hobbies, really. A hobby doesn't determine a person's character, their personality is what defines their maturity.

It is childish of her to think that she is better than me for liking different things though. But I would be just as equally immature and childish if I thought of her as immature based on her hobbies alone.

That's what I meant, actually, tho with my typing it didn't come across that way. I honestly don't care much what people are into, but when they are "into" something that they think is superior somehow to what somebody else is, then I automatically wonder why they think their interest isn't "childish" in their own eyes, whether it is an interest I share or not.

You took my line into the next realm of where a conversation "could" have gone. I didn't intend it that way, well not on this forum, perhaps on my Skeptic's Forums, but not here. I only meant it as I said, but should have qualified it with "in her view." Does that make sense?

Don't stress so much about other peoples opinions on what you play. Some people understand Animal Crossing and some people just don't. If it's something you enjoy playing then that is all that matters in the end. But I do think that saying Animal Crossing is better then Call of Duty wasn't exactly a good example. Especially since someone like me love Black Ops. I been playing since World at war came out and you can't even compare the two games. But then I also play GTA 5 and Sims 3.

You are so right that many games can't be compared. I've been playing Baldur's Gate and BGII and BG ToB for over a decade. And Fable (especially Fable 3) is probably one of my fave games EVER! But I AM hopelessly addicted to this one. ;)

omg i couldnt agree more i get so much sh@t for playing acnl, such as 'its a baby game' 'all you do it run around' 'i you put it down nothing will happen' and 'it has no goals it is so boring'

My bf asked me what you do in Animal Crossing and he seemed bored during my explanation... -_-... You just have to play to understand!!

The sole reason I've been playing this game is because of its longevity.

If I ever buy games, it won't be those games where you follow this storyline and you played, like 24 hours and you're done. Maybe if there is a multiplayer version you can still squeeze some fun hours out of it, but that's it.
With Animal Crossing, you can play this game for years and years. I did it with Wild World, with City Folk.
That's why I bought games such as Minecraft.

This game is worth the money!

My mum loves animal crossing and plays it daily..
All my friends find it ok, even if some dont play it, they find it adorable and im 16
never found a problem with it at all, even people i dont like, have liked funny pictures from the game

Person: What games do you like to play?
Me: My favourite game is Animal Crossing!
Person: What's that?
Me: It's like the Sims, only a lot better and fun.

That's all I say, because I can't actually explain what Animal Crossing really is...

One time I was playing City Folk and one of my son's army recruiters came in to get him to sign some papers. He was like, "what ya playin'?" I say Animal Crossing, almost the only game that does not have guns and you fish, hunt bugs and water plants. He says, well without guns, what is the point of the game.

Our military at work :D

I try to avoid explaining it now! Though my mom got a bit interested when I was talking to her about the easter bunny haha.
Its a first for her, I am always told I am too old and should act my age :(

"Kind of like The Sims, except you're a mayor" is the only way I've been able to explain it as well :x So far, the only thing I've gotten flak for is the fact that I play it so much.

Then again, I work in an office where Candy Crush and Flappy Bird got really popular, so welp.

Ahh, yeah, that makes sense. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. A lot of things don't really carry on into typing ;0
