People don't get us!

I actually really like it too ;) I was going to say call of duty but I thought id get too much hate

I would've preferred if you had said call of duty :P Every COD game is just a copy+paste only with different guns and maps, just like Fifa and most apple products.

So fashion and celebrity gossip isn't childish? Wow...I'm old, then. I could not care less about celebrities, their gossip, or their fashions.

However, I DO seem to care quite a bit about my mayor's and villagers' fashion... :D

I wouldn't call being into fashion being childish, but I wouldn't call it mature either. Just like I don't think of ACNL as mature or immature. They're both just hobbies, really. A hobby doesn't determine a person's character, their personality is what defines their maturity.

It is childish of her to think that she is better than me for liking different things though. But I would be just as equally immature and childish if I thought of her as immature based on her hobbies alone.

Oh God I love Skyrim. Please don't say anything bad about it. ;) You can't really compare Skyrim and Animal Crossing though.
Most people I know either don't care about it (but they don't judge me, lovely people that they are) or are always looking over my shoulder while I play.
My boyfriend didn't really see the appeal at first and he hates the way the villagers talk but he has grown to like it and LOVES my cranky villagers. He is always pestering me to interact with Lobo and Kabuki, now Apollo. XD

My brother always rolls his eyes when I talk about the game, but I know if he actually played it he'd be hooked.

All that I've ever really heard is this:

"Ugh, are you serious? I had a little sister..."
-One of the jocks at an old school

"Animals. All that they are good for is being killed."
-One of the "popular" kids at an old school

When we got the Wii for the family, ACCF was one of the games recommended for my (then 2nd and 3rd grade) two youngest kids. We had a blast playing it They had some friends in their elementary school that played, so they could link up. I played too. Actually, when my husband ran across a refurbed Wii for sale at Best Buy, he bought a second one so both kids could have separate towns.

Now . . . with the kids older, my son plays ACNL with me and his sisters. His town is a "time travel Dr. Who themed town called Maobius." My daughter loves visiting and the music the most. She loves having parties in her town.

My son said he found out that some of the guys at school think it's lame, but some play "with their sisters." My daughter has several school acquaintences that she plays with. She also says some kids say it's lame, but she doesn't care.

My husband rolls his eyes a bit, but he likes that the three of us have a non-violent game that we can play together.

My fianc? is always teasing me about it saying its a kiddie game but I know he is only winding me up. I tease him about stuff he does as well.

My boyfriend just wonders why I still play AC religiously, lol. He doesn't make fun of me, since he plays LoL/GW2/Starbound just as much. The only time I took a break from AC was when Pokemon X/Y came out ;D

*skyrim is better than ACNL <3

Oh, I try not to tell anyone too much about what I like and such, so no-one really knows I play AC.
*shrugs* If she hasn't played the game, then you shouldn't listen to her opinion. It's a load of crap.

If it does come up in conversation then the normal reaction is a roll of the eyes. I don't argue. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I have a couple of friends who have played animal crossing before (not the ACNL version though) they all love it.

The only person who disaproves of me playing ACNL is my dad. He calls it "boring". (He's watched me play it before) He says the same thing about minecraft too. Ugh.

It gets to be an interesting dinner conversation when my daughter, son and I start talking about various villagers. The rest of the family listen and seem to be genuinely interested in what we are saying about our towns. Anyone else, I don't really care, but then, now that I'm 40, does it really matter what anyone else thinks? I think not. :D

i usually just ask people "have you heard of/played the sims"

and they're usually like "o ya totally"

and then i say "its basically exactly like that but with cute animals instead of people"

and thats the end of the convo lol
