This may be kind of hypocritical since I have complained about this game before, but sometimes I think people nitpick this game way too much over stuff that doesn’t matter.
This isn’t directed at anyone on this forum either. I saw a youtube video about about something complaining that there wasn’t any gems in the rocks like NL. Idk, like some of the stuff like missing club LOL or saying that it’s too hard to get a 5-star island or that items are too expensive seem really nitpicky in my opinion. The game would be way too easy if everything was super cheap or quick…
And yes, I know that there are lots of things like the lack of furniture, bad QoL, no mini games, flowers being annoying, boring villagers, etc, etc. But I think there’s also a lot of negativity too (and I’ve definitely over-complained too).
It’s kinda weird too that people will go to ACNH discord servers and say that the game sucks and that NL is better. Like, why hang around ACNH communities if you hate the game?
I know this is kind of a weird thing to make a long post about, but I think people should probably make peace with the fact that ACNH isn’t ACNL 2.0. I think you can still criticize the game and want more content without expecting every single thing to return or to have super niche updates. Idk, thoughts?
“New Leaf” is better than “New Horizons.”
This is based on what has been experienced
so far.
People have mentioned why. And I agree with many of those examples. So, I won’t get bogged down into details. Let’s just say, “After three months of ‘New Leaf,’ I did not consider putting it down for a while as I have with ‘New Horizons’.” (I also liked being able to have more than one town, with “New Leaf” and the 3DS game console, than I do for an island with “New Horizons” and the Nintendo Switch game console.)
I know part of the reason is that “New Horizons” is being delivered, in bits and pieces as
updates, via the Internet. But, that doesn’t change what is current. This comment is four months after the release of “New Horizons.” I can change my mind later. But, four months after “New Leaf,” I was not getting into the water for the first time. I was not wondering about this thing called a
Dream Suite. And I was not looking forward to Sunday-night fireworks.
Now, I will mention this: I do not think “New Horizons” sucks. No—it is
lacking.
Both “New Leaf” and “New Horizons” were designed and intended to have years of shelf life. That Nintendo prefers to not have the next full new game for close to ten years. To not have to turn around with a brand new game two or three years later. No. So, they will milk this for however long they figure they can and/or should. In this respect, “New Horizons”
has to become better. And it will.
I have lately been loosening up. I renewed interest in playing “New Horizons” by rebuilding and redesigning the original map and layout of my island. The original rivers are especially no more. A part of the redesign has to do with functional. And I was also motivated by the possibility of any future buildings to get added to what we have established. (I will reserve space just in case.) So, I have a purpose. And I feel my island is going to become better.
I suggest, with respect, that you don’t get too concerned about criticisms that you may find excessive. Just take into consideration valid points that are made; that people actually want the game to be better; so, they’re not trying to be harmful. And please keep in mind the timeline for where we are at currently.
