The Bell Tree Fair 2014 Patch
I was having a conversation with a friend today, and this subject came up. This is something I've always wondered. Does everyone have paths/patterns leading to all buildings/PWP's?! Whenever I see a town/town blueprint, I always see people trying to box everything in and make it all fit perfectly together. I also see people making sure there are no dead end paths and that the road is all connected.
My question is: Does anyone just not bother with paths at all and actually put in the time and effort to do real dirt paths?! Or even a combination of both patterns and dirt paths?!
I myself like the more natural look/feel of a town. I like mixing both patterns and dirt paths. With my current town map, making the road system connect all the way around would be nearly impossible. What do you guys do with your town?! Do you let it all go "naturale", go all out with the patterns or do a bit of both?! I'd love to know ^.^

My town has pattern paths! Most two patterns wide, but I just use one tile to save inventory space. I also have some little "water" tiles with canals running along some of the paths in clearer areas.

Edit: Oh, my paths don't lead to all the PWPs, just houses and important buildings. I like doing things like hiding a zen bell in a forest for people to wander off the path and discover :)

I really love the natural look, but it just takes so long! In a few months I might take down some of my paths and see if the ground has worn in yet.

Also, my town is named Aurora too! Heehee. Rolf's one of my dreamies as well (just got him, ahhh) <3

I been running on my path for so long. I am pretty sure I already have a natural dirt path underneath. Ha... I think I just killed 2 birds with 1 stone. I can use path or use natural path whenever I want.
Also I think pre-planning with path helps out a lot in dirt path or designed paths... a great town layout works great with any path.

lool yeah, I figured Aurora would be a popular name but idc. I just love the skies during Auroras, they're so beautiful *.* I even made a custom flag and all.
Rolf is my favorite cranky. I had him in my last town and fell in love with him instantly. I'm now working on getting Drake out so I can make space for him(it has taken me 2 weeks of real time play so far with no success). So lucky you ^_^ take good care of Rolfy!<3

Me too! >w< Plus it's such a pretty name, too. I'm hoping to upload a dream town during aurora season! <3

Yeah, Rolf's my favorite cranky too :') He's surprisingly super sweet. I had him in my Wild World town, and he'd always be up super late to chat with me hahaha. And then one day he moved away unexpectedly and I was heartbroken :'( I'm glad to have him back, I hope you can get him soon too!!

In addition to making a town look nice, paths make it easier to get around. They are especially helpful for people visiting your town so that they can make their way from place to place.

My paths lead to all of the buildings in my town. Here is a map with paths drawn in:

since I have a forest town (in the works) I have a few trails that lead off :D

That's all very nice and all, but that's a lot of work. I'm guessing plot resetting took you quite a bit. I try to plot reset whenever possible, but it just takes too long. I end up not enjoying the game. I don't think I could ever have my town look that neat O_O, kudos to you though for putting that much work in. Your town looks lovely.

It takes time to set up a town - getting the villagers you want, laying down paths, expanding and decorating houses, etc. - but once that's done it makes the game so much more enjoyable. I love my town layout, I love my paths and I especially love my doggies :D It certainly doesn't feel like work, in fact it's very relaxing. I did some late night diving tonight while my husband and I were watching TV and it felt so peaceful.

Any way, my advice to you is to spend some time to make your town the way you want it, whatever that is.

I have pattern paths that connect all the buildings and some PWPs together, but I also have small sections of natural paths that lead to the campsite and my picnic area. :)

I have paths connecting everything, and a few dirt paths leading to secret areas. I have pulled up the paths just for a laugh (a very small section) and it's solid dirt underneath. I'm actually pretty proud of my paths. Once you get on them, it's impossible to get lost in my town. DA: 5700-3256-1328

I always wondered how people get Natural paths *--* !!
-noted-

my first town (Bonbon) has no clear layout, since I didn't know about such things, then I saw dream addresses and learnt how much neat it could look!

I try to make some major lines, but not for PWPs. I too find it cool when you wander off and find something :)

I have tiled paths in the city half of my town, and then I have dirt paths in the forest half! My tiled paths lead to all the buildings, houses, interactive PWPs like benches. I'm going for a clean city look there, so it makes sense that the infrastructure is thought out, right?
In my forest half however I have paths that lead to things, but I'm trying to make them look, well, natural and intuitive. Like there's not a cookie cut path, but if you follow the way the bushes are placed and the ground is worn, you'll eventually get lead to all the PWPs. I'm pretty content with it so far, too!

I had a few nice real dirt paths but I tt a lot regularly so it's hard for me to keep them. I prefer some natural stepping stone patterns instead now a days

I have a pathway that leads to all buildings and houses..not to PWP. I do have some natural paths though created by bushes, bamboo, or flowers that take you off the main path to some places in my town though which is kind of fun to have a mix c:

I don't have a path. I just couldn't find the right design that looked good in my town and plus I didn't know how to properly lay the paths so I sort of gave up, but maybe someday.

I have a path leading to all the buildings in my town. I may not continue it towards all the PWPs, but dirt paths annoy me so much, I just might. Not to say they don't look good. I've seen my fair share of towns with natural paths that looked lovely! I just can't stand maintaining them myself.
