Overpricing on the Re-tail forum?

I would never buy a hybrid, yeesh. There's nothing but hybrids in my town, all locally grown - I've even got homegrown blue roses now. Someone tried to give me a blue rose for free awhile back and I made them take it back because I wanted to do it myself LOL

Basically though, people will charge what people are willing to pay, this is economics.

On the rare occasions I sell stuff I tend to do what staeples suggests and tell people to "pay whatever you think it's worth". I think I actually get better deals that way sometimes because it makes people feel guilty LOL. Maybe types like us need to start some sort of Fair Trading Alliance.

I actually think the prices on tbt are really higher then the other forums. However, there are a lot of shops here. And for the most part, they are all pretty professional. :) If you want something, you are more likely to find it here. So in my mind, that extra is absolutely worth it.

This is my first AC game and I almost couldn't believe a flower could be that much. xD. With some help though I managed to learn the basics of hybrid breeding and it doesn't seem to hard aside from blue roses and golden roses.

Personally I don't value them as much but if people buy my spares for 40k then yay bells. I usually just hand some out when feeling generous or messed up a trade as a way to say sorry.

hybrids for like 60k each is good, bush starts for like 40k is stupid imo.

tbh i don't use the retail forum as most people over price their items, and even if i do, i make sure i pay a price i'm happy to buy.

if people are happy to buy bush starts for 40k then..

I agree that most stuff on here is overpriced tbh. But people are gonna ask for whatever they can get away with so  I also prefer other people choosing their price when buying my stuff, I feel less guilty that way lol.

sounds like a great idea to me, id rather barter with people and be like well you pick since i dont wanna make you pay a lot for something you really want in a virtual game you know?

yeah cause they know if someone really wants this one holiday item/dlc item that badly theyll jack up the price as high as they want lmao

oh yeah, ive seen gold roses go for literally 150k a pop. but i found that breeding 2 blue roses pretty quickly spawned into about 20 for me just by watering them a lot and tt'ing a day or two.

same with villagers too, i feel bad for people who are willing to give every bell they have for a villager they really want and then they just get out bid by someone offering like 15m lol so i usually end up giving away villagers on villagertrade on tumblr since people there seem to be way less aware of the pricing of a villager like maybe julian or something on TBT. still cant believe people charge so much for items like pave and easter items when you can just get them yourself. they arent re orderable or anything and if i needed a piece id try to get it from on tbt, but selling one small piece for over 5 m is super overpriced.

(did that even make any sense its like 2:50 am here like ??)

then again i dont get why people who have millions upon millions of bells charge buyers a lot for simple items like bush starts or flowers (and im not even talking about those things; furniture and even a bow wig [which can be bought for like what 15k or less at graciegrace's] can end up being 50k more on tbt than in the actual game)

Don't think it's overpriced at all, it takes literally 30mins in island trip to make 800k, it takes 6~8days to make 16 hybrids.

it doesnt take me 30 minutes to make 800k on the island if anything i get maybe 600k and it can take me hours to catch bugs and sharks that are worth over 6,000 without scaring any off. i dont know what youre doing to get that much in half an hour, but you should share your secret.

It's not a secret. 800k seems very realistic.

i always get 600k or less. not sure how youd get 800k in 30 mins. it always takes me an hr or two just to fill up my take home box so idk what you people are doing but ive never gotten that much that fast lol.

didnt think of turning on bell boom since i have so many flowers in town but i might consider doing that now anyway. thanks for the link!

has anyone else noticed this? the other day a user was going to charge me over 5m for a simple easter item. (will not mention any users) i also see that people sell hybrids for 60 and up PER flower, plus bush starts for 40k EACH. id almost rather just wait and find what i need/grow my own hybrids since the prices can be pretty ridiculously high sometimes.

What may be most alarming is selling villagers like they're slaves.

Bidding contests on this and that specific villager.

I paid for you, Julian! Everyone wants you. But I have you. You are mine! I "own" you.

Exchanging villagers is not that different from exchanging goods when you break it down. In the end, everything is just virtual so a furniture item is the same as a villager in that sense thus exchanging is the same (modulo the different and more cumbersome procedure in the latter case). Of course a villager is designed so that the player will probably invest more emotions in it so it's perfectly understandable that the subject of villager exchange can be polarizing. I'm just saying that to argue "villager exchange is right/wrong" is a waste of time.

it is a waste of time even if you agree or not people will still trade/buy.

I can understand why bush starts are so high; you can only get two random ones a day from T&T Emporium, unless they're the island ones. Then they're kinda more expensive because medal earning takes a while. Hybrids aren't that hard to breed but I can understand the pricing.

I'll just quote what I said in another with regards to villager selling.

Because trading pixelated animals is almost as horrid as trading living, breathing, emotional human beings, as if they were a currency.

I'm sorry, but I guess my brain can't comprehend how you can compare something that happens in a game aimed towards children, to an appalling thing that happens in reality.
