I think it's widely known and accepted that the origin of the zen projects is from traditional Japanese architecture, and that the origin of the modern projects is from, well, modern architecture. But what do you all think the origin of the fairytale projects is? I got the impression that it was inspired by real-life architecture such as this, but I don't see this suggested much. So I was curious to know what others thought about the origin of the fairytale projects... Is it just supposed to look fairytale-ish in general, or is it a reference to an architectural aesthetic in real life, like the other two main project themes in AC:NL?

That onion dome, is also similar to the mosque design in my country =x but I don't care about the origin I just want the nice train station but I don't like the rigid modern style or zen aka japanese style~ So fairy tales is the only choice~ I really hope they add more choice on it~

I don't know if there is a reference, but the bulbous spires on the fairy-tale town hall remind me a bit of the St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow. :)

It reminds me of Russian architecture. Look at the Kremlin, a lot of forms come back in the PWP's. But I think they changed the colours a bit, so that they would pop.
