I've been planning on having an orchard in my town for a while now, but my current one is just a huge flop.
It's very plain and a couple of the trees wilt no matter what. At first I was only having a problem with an orange tree, so I took out a row of mangoes and replanted and now I'm having a problem with 2 other spots (meaning they're probably not just dead spots.)
I'm honestly about to just give up on my orchard, so I would really love any tips that y'all have!
Also, if you know any DA's that have an orchard, I would love if you could let me know so I could go look around!

If you are planning on selling them, then I would suggest placing the orchard next to retail. I have a small one behind retail, but it's mostly decoration/space filler. It's nothing special though.

ye, I'm planning to put it in front of my train station which is right next to Re-Tail. (:

you're probably planting them too close to each other and/or in bunches too fast

and/or too close to the train station

so should I try spacing out the times I plant them?
they're all the same distance from each other and the ones closest to the train station have no problem growing.

Try planting them one row at a time. If you plant too many at once, or try to plant one in a spot where it's surrounded by too many other trees, it'll die because it doesn't have enough room to grow.

Ahhh, I'll try that and see how it goes, thank you!
(also, off topic but I love your icon of Kim~)

I have an orchard on my town. I planted the trees 2 spaces apart, and I grew fruit trees of all types without any problems. You can take a look at mine if you would like. Here is my dream address: 5100-3279-3612. My orchard is located FAR away from Re-Tail, as I grew it more for aesthetics rather than money-making purposes. It surrounds Hamlet's house.

Thank you, I'll go take a look right now~!

There's really nothing else I can think of to add. Just be sure to stagger your planting in rows. Planting the first row on the first day, the second row the next, etc, should ensure the growth of all your trees.

On that note, avoid planting perfect fruit trees in orchards unless you intend to never shake them. If one dies in the middle of an orchard, that spot will be infertile as it'll be surrounded and suffocate. (Same applies if you intend to change out a tree in the middle later.) Nothing will grow and you'll end up replanting that row or column it's in. Best to plant perfect fruit trees in single rows or on the ends of an orchard if you want to harvest them.

I think you should just plant one space apart, and maybe stick lamps in the gaps, otherwise you get less tree's.

Also with perfect fruit, dead one's wont male the space 'infertile' I know from expearience ^_^

I think what they meant by "infertile" is that you have to remove surrounding trees to plant a new tree on the spot that the perfect fruit tree died on, else the new tree will just die.

I think it depends. I've had no problem replanting individual perfect fruit trees at times, but sometimes I do have to replant the whole row.

I was reading a thread on this yesterday! Apparently, when planting bushes/trees in a row you can't squish them. In other words, you want an orchard that looks like this
X X X X

you cannot plant a new one like this:
X O X X
X O X X

but you CAN plant a new row like so:

X X X O
X X X O
X X X O
X X X O

No one has mentioned the --i cant think of the word forest something anyway its when you can plant a bunch of trees or too many bushes together. I suggest do the whole she loves me "she loves me not" with plotting i.e one space in between. Saying that though i have a forest of perfect apples around my town hall. I use to have a problem at the start but now not a tree failed. You're welcome to visit my town via dream 7600-4568-9344.

Sometimes certain spots that should be able to grow trees don't, then I suggest that you cut down other trees. I think it's better to plant the top row first, then the second to top row and so on to not get any weird dead spots but I don't actually know.

I've also heard about there being a limit to how many trees/bushes/bamboo you can have in one area (not the 12 in a row thing), but I'm not very sure about it...
