Hello there! I was wondering what y'all thought about time travelling.
At first I thought it was immoral and a horrible thing to do, but now I realize that people want to play the game at a different pace, especially if it's the only game they play each day, and want to do more. Recently, I lost all data. With the kind help from a friend, i've gotten some of my golden tools back and a bunch of bells, but I don't want to spend the next 10 days setting up town, as I don't find it fufilling in any way. I'm considering time travelling JUST this one time so I can start to enjoy the game again, and make up for all of the time I just lost. What do you think? Thanks, Toby.
I think everyone should play the game so that they enjoy it the most. I’m impatient by nature so I’m glad that there’s an option to TT. Sometimes you just don’t have anything more to do than 20 mins and if I feel like playing some more I’ll glafly time travel.
I even cheated when Gracie visited by traveling back and forth to get the emporium faster.
So, my game, my rules. Each person for their own
I think it is fine, not that what I think matters. I have really only used it when I am catching up on days; it is countless how many times I have used it to catch up to current day from a sickness or just a bout of school work that needed a lot of attention.
"...immortal and horrible" jesus, a little harsh? Like it's really not that bad :/
That being said, I TT alot. None of my towns are ever set to the current IRL date. The only time the two dates align is when I'm first making the town. I like to have that as the town made date, so I can easily look back on the time and effort I've put into the town. I only ever play maybe an hour on that one day, then change the time to the next day, so that I can check the shops, landscape, see what starts/trees grew, unlock other shops ect... I like that I don't have to rely on real time to do events or shops, cause I can't always do them at that time. People get busy.
There are going to be those people against it, some who even say it's cheating. It's not, but still. TTing grants that person advantages to play the game hiw they want to. Don't TT? That's how they play. Do TT? Thays how they play. At the end of the day, I think the game was meant to be peaceful and relaxing, so each person can play it how they want, as long as it does no harm to others.
I think everyone should play in they way that they enjoy the game the most. Personally, I think playing according to time in real life is fun for me as I can pace myself throughout the game and have time to do other things I enjoy throughout the day. Skipping time can also be fun if you've got nothing to do, but I think skipping time to get a specific thing done eg. getting a gold axe the game can become boring or seen as work instead of a thing for you to enjoy.
Time travel in Animal Crossing is like fighting in hockey:Some people don't like it but it's still a part of the game.I don't consider it to be cheating like some players do.Not everybody operates on the same schedule and Nintendo knew that when they designed the game.I time travel mainly to go to a specific time of day or to get a moving villager to boxes.
Ahh All of those were amazing reads! Thank you for this, I'm now confident and think i'm going to TT a few days ahead, so I can get some things done and finally start to enjoy the game!
I think immoral and horrible is a bit of a stretch. Time traveling is another feature to the game you can choose whether to do it or not. I like to time travel myself as it can be a way for me to get things done
-Just to clear things up, I no longer think it is "immoral and horrible", I just started the game off with the wrong side of the community, who told me that it was a horrible thig
As a general rule, I don't time travel, but I don't look down on people who do. I just prefer the slower pace of playing day to day and I never get bored of it. I couldn't even imagine what it must feel like to finish everything I want to do in the game for that day. I've been playing for about a year and a half every day and there's always more I'd like to do when I have to shut down the game for the night. Of course, I work and have lots of other things going on in my life, so I only get to play for an hour or two each night.
The only time I time travel is to change the time within the same date so I can catch fish and bugs that aren't available during a time when I can play. Plus, I keep my 3DS set a few hours ahead of the actual time so the shops will still be open when I log in because I prefer having the Beautiful Town Ordinance set.
So, I think you should play in whatever way works for you and makes you happy.
I don't have a problem with time traveling at all, after all, I do TT in every Animal Crossing
main game I ever played. I'm just too impatient to wait till a new day begins and besides,
TT doesn't ruin the game for me, on the contrary, I have way more fun at this point. I
mean, everyone should play the game on the own way, and TT doesn't hurt anyone else
and it's also no cheating (since some people think this about TT). For me, it's a feature
of the game I welcome a lot and of course everyone can decide for themselves if they
want to TT or not. It's just a option you can choose on your own.
i used to time travel so i can get my town looking how i want ASAP, because i’m super impatient but now i don’t time travel at all.
i remember when i was really little playing city folk i’d time travel so much to the point there would be sooo many weeds!!
I have mixed feelings in regards to time traveling. I fully support time traveling when you missed an event due to real life, but I don't really like the idea of going forward to skip ahead. I agree it can be really slow at the beginning, but that extra time just lets you get familiar with things.
Time traveling is necessary for those who make guides and such, so it's good for that.
I guess my stance is that if you want to do it, that's fine, but don't spoil the experience for those who don't want it. Don't go offering to drop all these items that most people won't have because you were impatient and went ahead so other can people can make an excuse that it wasn't them time traveling. Keep it to yourself or to others who are time traveling without making excuses for it. Once people have started catching up naturally, then it's fine to offer those items up. Althought since the game's been out for several years now, it doens't really matter for New Leaf.
I definitely have no judgement on people who do time travel as far as being right or wrong. I saw in another hacking discussion thread that time travel isn't really wrong since there's a game mechanism that allows for you to do it, but I agree that it's probably not how the creators wanted the game to be played. I can also see why people do it for the reasons you mentioned in your post. I've personally never time traveled except when I was trying to kick out one of my villagers that I just abhorred, and it just made my whole town a mess honestly traveling back and forth. Wouldn't do it again but don't knock those that do!
I somewhat consider that it could be a kind of cheating? but a-okay kind. Not because "everyone can play the way they enjoy the most" but because it's one given option from those who developed this game, so I consider it a-okay.
Also when you need to give/swap villagers with people who are in different timezones, it's absolutely needed option to hold the villager until the transaction is possible.
Personally I prefer playing NL without time travelling. Actually I have towns playing that way. It feels more enjoyable and gives me surprise/excitement each day. But to be real, not all the people are free 24/7, have school, work, responsibility to take care of family, etc. So, for those who're busy for stuff in real life (this includes me too) time travelling is necessary option at times, to play the game in relax I think. But just to skip some things or just to get something done faster isn't really my cup of tea, as I'd feel it unnatural.
I love being able to timetravel, even just a few hours when my daytime slips by with work or other manners of busyness. I accidentally did so more than I meant to today, though; Missed Gracie by a short bit, and tried to go back so that she would return to the plaza. Apparently it doesn't work like that, and in letting the time adjustments cross midnight the game counted it as at least a day or two of jumping around (without changing the date). I killed a few of my flowers, lol.
I don't see any problems with time travel. Everybody plays the game their own way.
I don't time travel anymore, since that's what works for me. I often barely have time to play the one day anyways, and I much prefer taking things one day at a time anyways. But when I was little I adored it.
Back in our GameCube game my dad helped me TT to all the interesting events, and anything I couldn't manage anyways, (like the morning aerobics), which was part of what kept me interested in the game. I enjoyed the normal stuff too, but I have such fond memories of going to each of the morning sports back to back one afternoon, and I definantly wouldn't have enjoyed the game as much as I did if I didn't TT back then. (How Tangy never left our town, I'll never know!)
I think people can do whatever they want with their individual game.
As for myself, I've hated time travelling ever since my brother randomly decided to fast-forward our WW game in 2010 or '11. It took me an eternity to rid Springs of all those weeds.
I do it pretty often. My town is almost in July now LOL.
I will definitely keep it cycling through the rainy months for a while, just because that?s my favorite time of the year to play. At first I liked the different seasons, but I?m impatient so I decided I wanted my forest to always be lush and green ?magically?. Since it?s in my preferred months now, I don?t usually skip any days. Though pretty often I might set the clock to a different hour, just because I find early mornings and late afternoons in acnl the most relaxing.
