Fire Emblem is sure worth your time
Pokemon X&Y and Luigi's Mansion are awesome.
I should imagine Fantasy Life is worth the money too.

I can only give my opinions on Ocarina of Time 3D and Pokemon XY.

Ocarina of Time 3D is amazing. If you're getting Majora's Mask 3D, you should probably pick it up too. There's nothing else I can say other than it's the N64 version, but perfected. And portable.

Pokemon X and Y is spectacular. I had so much fun playing through the main story mode, and the postgame/online is really fun too. The Pokemon scene is much bigger than ever, and you can go on sites like Marilland to interact with other players and such. There have been complaints about it being easier than other games though, so take that as you will.

Ocarina of Time is amazing and I definitely think you should get it, especially if you're planning on getting Majora's Mask when it comes out.

I love Fire Emblem as well and I'm not even usually really into strategy rpgs, so I'd recommend that too. You can always try out the demo to see if you think you'd like it.

I thought both Pokemon X/Y and Luigi's Mansion were good but not as good as some of the others on your list (I'm not as big into Pokemon or Mario games though, but if you are you'd probably really like them).

Kirby Triple Deluxe is a really fun game. I've never been disappointed by the main series Kirby games, though. K3D is a bit slower than others I've played, but it uses the 3D in an interesting matter and there's a bunch of stuff to do to get to 100%. It also has a nice difficulty curve, and the final boss will put everything you've learned to the test.

Pokemon X/Y is indeed easier than all other Pokemon games, but also brought a bunch of improvements to the series. However, if you already have Alpha Sapphire then you're basically experiencing all the new stuff that X/Y introduced. The only thing I would say is missing from OR/AS is the Battle Chateau and the Friend Safari. The Friend Safari is kinda useless in OR/AS anyway, as you can use the DexNav to find Pokemon with Hidden Abilities or which are shiny. The Battle Chateau was a nice place to level Pokemon and earn money.
Would it be worth putting down money for now? Maybe if you want the specific legendaries from those games. If you're just wanting to get it for the stuff missing from OR/AS I'd say no, but it also includes the entire adventure... It'll keep you busy for a while at least.

I don't know if you've played the first Luigi's Mansion, but Dark Moon is a letdown. The game is constantly holding your hands, telling you what to do and whatnot. If you see or do anything the right way, Professor E. Gadd calls you to talk for a while. At some points I just felt like the entire game was being padded with his calls, because the levels would be a lot easier to play without him constantly yapping.
For the rest the game is just the same as LM1, just with the addition of new mansions which bring some new places into the game.

Ocarina of Time is not the greatest Zelda title you can get, but it is the best on the 3DS (not counting VC releases). It'll also lead into the story of Majora's Mask, which you're already planning to get. Playing OOT3D could possibly help with familiarizing yourself with the control scheme.

Fire Emblem: Awakening (I assume) is great. It's a really fun SRPG that's really easy to learn how to play. Compared to previous FE titles it's a lot more accessible due to that, with even the Normal-Classic mode able to be played by somebody completely new to the series. The story is also kinda cool and the ability to make characters generate differently is interesting. I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a bit of a different RPG.

(Also, I know you didn't ask for it, but if you want to play a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon title, Gates to Infinity is not that good. It's more of an entry title than anything else, as the Explorers series (Time, Darkness, Sky) on the DS is often considered to be the best. Having only played the original PMD games and GtI, I can say that GtI feels like a downgrade.)

Fantasy Life is a really good game. I got it on release and there is so much to do in the game as well as the replay value. You could do everything on one character or specifically stick with a few 'jobs' and rely on friends etc. to help fill other skills you may need. The storylines aren't half bad either and the game has a lot of 'character'.
You can also have a pet cat, so it wins by default.

Smash 3DS is great. Mechanically, it feels the same as the WiiU version. The difference in stages as well as a few game modes makes it a decent game on its own though, especially if you don't own the WiiU version/a WiiU. Personally, I prefer the stages and game modes in the 3DS version (though the WiiU obviously looks better).

Pokemon Mystery Dungon is fun, but I don't think it's for everybody. The 'combat' is fun and of 'questionable' difficulty as it can range from stupidly easy to really hard in some places. You can also 'recruit' different Pokemon to your Dungeon exploring team.
The thing I like about Mystery Dungeon is the story of it all since it's very story centered. It's obviously going to be somewhat 'childish', but the characters etc. are what makes me enjoy it. Gates to Infinity is definitely worth a look.

Ocarina of Time is okay. Mechanically it works EXACTLY like the original with mostly all/any of the same problems. Some of the dungeons and puzzles haven't aged very well and can sometimes be really obvious (I only ever got half way through the original, so it's not because "I remember them"). The combat...Really hasn't aged well and is really simple, though some of the bosses still have some fun mechanics. It's still however a really enjoyable game.
If you haven't played or finished the original (like I hadn't), I would say it's worth a look, especially with the graphical update. Especially if you plan on getting Majora's Mask 3D.

Pokemon X/Y are great, possibly the Pokemon games I enjoyed the most since Gold and Silver. Gameplay is mostly 'same old same old'. The storylines are enjoyable. There's a DAMN lot of Pokemon in the game across 3 Pokedex's so you're pretty spoiled for choice, as well as all of them being obtainable via different ways after you've beaten the elite 4.

I really enjoyed pokemon y, it was a huge improvement from pokemon white which was the last pokemon game i played! The graphics are probably the same as alpha and omega and the customisation option was not necessary in an 'adventure' game, but added some fun into the game. The storyline is good, and the new pokemon and the 3 section pokedex has lots of new and older pokemon to collect.
Overall it's a really enjoyable game, one of my 3ds favourites!
Also does Alpha/Omega have customization? I enjoyed that in x and y a lot!

OR/AS do not have customization. Hoenn does not focus on fashion unlike Kalos, and the originals didn't have any customization either. Instead, interactions with other players are done with default trainer classes (like the Hex Maniac, Rich Boy, etc.), though battles just use the default trainer model.

It does have the Secret Base system, along with Mirage Spots for non-Hoenn Pokemon, and a pretty great post-game story, along with some minor upgrades. The lag present in X/Y's battles has also largely been fixed.

Nobody cares about Kirby Triple Deluxe, and that's sad.

Anyways...

Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon- It's a great game, though I like the original game better. The sequel's fun.

Kirby Triple Deluxe- Quite possibly one of my favorite Kirby games, it's like if Super Star and Return to Dreamland formed together into an awesome game. Play it, naaaaoooow.

LoZ ocarina of time- This right here is the definite version of Ocarina of Time, great on the go too!

Pokemon X/Y: Although it's not one of the best Pokemon games out there, it did get a lot of people from the Gen I days to come back and replay Pokemon. Honestly, go with Pokemon Black 2 & White 2 for a much better experience, but X/Y's fun.

Thank you all so much this is much appreciated as i'm still very new to the 3ds world (only have had my XL for less than a month)

From your list, I'd say Fantasy Life will probably give you the most enjoyment - it's a really great game. There's lots to do and it's lots of fun. Check out some LP's and you can see if it's a good game for you :o
Only bad thing is there's DLC, which you can think about getting (depending on your budget). I recommend getting the DLC since it does provide lots of extra content and helps the game last a lot longer. It adds an extra area, more quests for all the classes, new items and loads of other littler things. Join us on the Fantasy Life thread! :O

Also, Fire Emblem Awakening is fun too! Especially if you like SRPGs. There's a demo for it, so give that a try - if you like it, you'll probably like the main game too (you get a much larger army with lots of characters and maps to go through). Also really fun~

I would really recommend Fantasy Life though! It's great :o

I haven't officially played any of them, but I can vouch for Ocarina being good (having played it on N64)

its way too easy for my without a forced handicap, but its still a decently solid game

also if you're planning to get Majora's Mask, I'd definitely say to get and play Ocarina first. the stories and such are completely separate, but playing Ocarina first just adds more to Majora's experience

N64 gold cart Ocarina will always be best Ocarina to me due to all the glitches you can perform for sequence breaking (which adds a ton of replayability imo), but 3DS version should be more than worth it regardless

ps get A Link Between Worlds

I'm enjoying Fantasy Life.

How do you even have time to play that many games? If I pick as little as two or three video games, all my leisure time is suddenly gone :/

Ever since they announced it didn't have customization, I always saw that as a horrible reason as to why. I would prefer they just said "there wasn't enough time/not enough space on the cartridge" or simply "we couldn't be bothered".

I don't really see the original not having it as a reason either...They've added much more game changing things that the original didn't have.

I care, I love Kirby games. They've never had it in stock when I've gone to buy it though, so I've ended up getting something else I wanted every time.

Hoping it's easier to find after Christmas when I should have a bit of money :3

I love the Kirby Series (AirRide was my life in the younger years xD) if i can find it for a decent price i was going to pick it up since my birthday is coming soon but i'm not sure yet D: thanks everyone for your opinions it narrowed it down for me.

I no longer have interest in:
Luigi's mansion dark moon
Smash 3ds (never had too much anyway)
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Gates to infinity

Meh, it was obvious it wasn't going to be in. Game Freak has always been very obvious with their game design choices, and when they showed the Super Secret Bases it was pretty easy to see customization was out. Still took 3+ months before people accepted it because then GF said it outright.

Apart from that, it's not like previous remakes didn't remove stuff because it wasn't in the original. FRLG entirely removed the clock (G3 didn't even have a day/night or day of the week cycle for that matter) and locked trading with R/S until you went through a very specific set of actions, as well as Contests and Secret Bases.
HGSS removed Super Contests, the Underground as well as the Poke Radar. The Battle Frontier there was just copied and pasted from Platinum.

Both of them added a lot that the original didn't have as well. ORAS just follows the same pattern, where region-specific things are added back in (the Pokemon Center and PokeMart splitting up again) and are removed (customization, Battle Chateau). Customization was region-specific, since Kalos is so focused on fashion. It is in fact so focused on fashion that the entire point of Team Flare is to make the world more fashionable. I doubt they were ever planning to put it into ORAS. It'll return in Z, and then probably the 7th generation. Maybe.

I have played Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time on the Wii and would recommend the one for 3ds and I have Pokemon Y and I would totally recommend that too.

Thanks for everyone's opinions! I am going to get Majora's Mask, Fire emblem, and another copy of New Leaf so i can start cycling.
