Would you choose to soft reset your island if it were possible?

I saw this tweet today and it really made me stop and think...

They pose the idea of a "soft reset", where you could reset your island and start fresh but keep all of your current items. I thought it was very interesting!

Which begs the question, if it were possible to retain your current villagers, your catalog, storage items, IGB, NMT, and everything you had in the game, would you choose to soft reset?

Personally, nah

I've invested nearly 500 hours in my island at this point, and I'd be sad to see all my designing disappear

Seems pointless, Nintendo should just add more terraforming options or multiple save files. I'd do it if everything stays including achievements.

Nah, I would not. My island has its flaws but I have put too much time in too many awesome spots that would be hard to recreate on an island with a new layout.

I think that idea is super interesting. I could see a lot of people doing it, it would be the way to go if you miss your old island! If I ever got tired and bored with the layout of my current island I would absolutely do the soft reset over the plain old reset, no question! I would miss all of my villagers and I worked so hard to get them, so I would have a really rough time trying to leave everything behind. But that’s only if I get bored with my island, and I love it the way it is!

I thought I'd like to before but now that I think about it, my island kind of serves as a time-capsule of sorts. I mean, I started the game literally on midnight of the 20th so as soon as it's been out I've been playing. And obviously I don't think there's ever been more need for an AC game. The changes I'd like to make to my island are mostly small like I'd pick a different name and maybe a different map (Yes I'm one of the ones with a plaza close to the airport) but in this game you can basically work with anything. I feel like once you reset looking for perfection it becomes a cycle and you can't really enjoy the game as much.

There was a similar thing you could do in New Leaf where you could reset and keep your catalog/money.

I think I would entertain the idea but ultimately not do it. Around a month ago I might have but now I’ve kind of gotten bored of the game and have moved on to other things haha

I if would have read this thread a few weeks back I probably would have put yes. I want to change my islands theme completely, plus it's completely overgrown with flowers so it's a massive chore.

But as I've started knocking down and rebuilding parts of my island I've found I've really enjoyed the process -- it's kind of therapeutic to me :lemon:. So I'm glad I've stuck with it

I don't need it right now. Besides, I have a cycling island to hold my stuff and the villagers, but for people who doesn't have other options and badly wants to reset, it would be great.

It's an interesting idea, and I think quite a few players would benefit from it. Personally though, I don't think I would. I'm too attached to my island at this point :ROFLMAO: I change little parts of it around, but I feel like I'd get discouraged if I had to completely re-do the design.

I'm 95% happy with my island as the only thing I would change would be larger rock areas, so I wouldn't want to soft reset for a very long time for that one change.

I wouldn’t , but I feel like the option should exist.

For the record, I voted no because personally I feel it wouldn't be worth it on my specific island but I see so often people wishing they could do something like this!

I wouldn't do it right now, but I'd probably do it eventually. Even now, I'm considering this my "first" island.

I personally think they should reintroduce a "buyback" program like they had in ACNL (where Tom Nook would "buy" your own, letting you restart with potentially millions of bells, but a new town- you could also keep your catalog or sell it, and you'd keep unlocked public works projects).

I wouldn't use that, but I'd love the ability to visit my original island layout for a while just to wander around, reminisce, and remind myself of how it looked before I put my stamp on it. It would be cool to compare the current island I know so well with the one I started with back in March.

I thought about this a few days ago. I wish I had left the river the way it was.
