Opinions on RAM Hacking?

Personally I used to want to hack because it was so hard to get a dream town but I updated my 3DS so it wasn't possible.

But now I realised all the fun would be gone in the game and I feel that actually visiting dream towns which have been hacked put me off entirely.

I think Animal Crossing is a relaxing game and any hacking or cheating kind of defeats the object and I would feel that going on it after everything is unlocked and complete would be super boring!

It's always fun restarting from the bottom and working your way up earning bells and opening the new shops and expansions. Putting bamboo shoots in rivers and weeds and bushes on the plaza seem pointless.

The only thing I would see it useful for would be something that the creators of ACNL should have allowed anyway which was to put trees/bushes next to rivers/buildings and rocks.

It looks fun to mess around with once you find nothing to do in the game. Like when you have all shops, your house fully expanded, all your dreamie villagers etc.

I'd be way too scared of breaking my game, so it's a nono from me.

Yeah I would be terrified of corrupting my game and end up having to buy a new game/SD card! Everything would be lost!

I don't hack to gain an advantage on other players or anything like that. I think that the people that hack their rams to do stuff like that and to spawn in 9.999.999.999 bells and what not get bored of the game very quickly.

Saying this, I've just completed the diving encyclopaedia via hacking because I can't stand diving as it stresses me out, though this is probably the only advantage I'd give myself.

I mostly use my ram hacks for changing the unchangeable aspects of the game. For example, there are a lot of buildings/PWPS that you can hack into your town which can only be obtained via hacking. I recently decided to make a duplicate of the main street bench into my town (works and functions fine), as well as placing PWPS on cobblestone and anywhere I want (no more pesky isabelle telling me that the bridge I want to build is too close to a villager's house).

I've also changed my town's boarders, ultimately getting rid of my "side-beach". I have a town which sort of mimics a city folk/WW town where it only has one beach and that's at the most southern part of my town.

I think it depends entirely on who has access to these hacks. Obviously, if it's a young child that doesn't know better then he'd probably ruin the game for himself. Whereas if you're like me that only hacks to see aesthetical changes and still likes to play the game "properly", only a little different from everybody else, then I think hacking access to hacks is harmless.

I think I agree, I would probably only hack to ease the placement of bridges and maybe move villagers houses to allow for more space or so they're not on paths etc. I would never use it to gain myself bells and items. I think that would really ruin the game as there would be nothing to strive for or achieve after that!

I find it fun catching fish and bugs so I feel hacking the encyclopedias would ruin the fun, but yeah diving CAN be a pain.

I think at most I would change the river shape or whatever but I wouldn't do anything totally unnatural like placing bushes on concrete or in water because that just looks silly in my opinion. I want people to visit my dream address and know I've worked hard for it and not just hacked!

I hacked Wild World back in the day. For me it made the game seem pointless and it got really boring so I don't advocate hacking ACNL.

I did not even know you could do it with WW! But yeah it seems so pointless! Only the small things would make a nice difference, hacking for self gain seems pointless as it would get so boring. I love working hard on my town!

i think hacking for aesthetics sounds so interesting. placing PWPs and stuff wherever you want sounds wonderful.
however i'm a big baby who's too scared of file corruption so i'm not gonna do it!
i'll just appreciate hacked dream towns from afar.

i've always felt that things that speed up game progression, be it hacking, tting to unlock stuff, etc kind of speeds up the enjoyment of the game so you get tired of it more quickly. but i know people who don't like waiting for things so if you're really not going to enjoy the build up then you should play the game however makes it fun for you.

Every time I have messed up, I have thought about hacking to fix it but then again, that's not as satisfying as when you do it yourself.
