I an a non-TTer in the northern hemisphere so I don't have access to the autumn or winter DIY sets. I've seen them being sold quite a bit on Nook's Cranny. Of course I have no personal issue with this, my I myself will not be buying any (despite how much I want to and how pretty they are).

Personally, I think acquiring these DIYs before their respective seasonal events will ruin the fun of that season. Do you guys have any opinions on selling and buying these DIYs?

i'm a southern hemisphere player and i can understand wanting them and trading for them! the mush set especially is super fun, works well with natural/forest-y themes and i think is popular for good reason. some of the prices i've seen people (not strictly TBT, on other sites/twitter too) charging for them though............sheesh

I am completely fine with that. Like you, I try to avoid buying the seasonal items I've yet to experience. But there are people who are going for certain aesthetics with their islands, and having access to these items is quite helpful. It is also helpful for those who are just starting the game and have missed these seasonal events.

I have to agree that some prices are too steep.

I agree with you for my own playthrough, about buying DIYs you haven't had the season of yet. I want to get a chance to get them by myself!
For the spring blossom stuff, though, I've beeen really really considering buying/trading for them, since I had my try and didn't get many because of Easter… I haven't done it yet, but it still comes on my mind every so often :'D
watch me wonder about it one whole year until we'll be so close to cherry blossom season again that it wouldn't make sense to buy them anymore

Personally I agree with you, having access to anything from future seasons will ruin them once we actually get to them.

I don't time travel either. The prices for seasonal DIYs tends to be really high and I would agree it kinda feels off. I don't mind waiting. Mushroom stuff looks cool, but I can wait.

I made the exception of buying myself some of the Mom items but I'm not too worried about getting the fall or winter stuff at the moment. I'll get it eventually. Doesn't quite match my town's appearance anyways

If there were more content in the game, I'd agree completely with you. But I respect your viewpoint a lot and have personally avoided buying a lot of future stuff to have something to enjoy. As it is, I just want to enjoy the game now, not worry about 6-12 months, when hopefully there'll be more content.

That being said, I have a semi-complete art museum, a near-complete set of Mom's furniture (not all variations), a Mush set, a frozen treat set for my ice cream shop (which I paid a lot of NMT for), etc. It makes me excited about decorating my town in the present, since I was going for a fairy stuff in some area. So I've definitely got way more future content than I haven't. I feel like event stuff is different to seasonal DIYs though.

I've generally held off getting the summer stuff, because that's coming and we don't know what else will be in. And I can wait for that. Some of my most wanted items are summer items.

I don't mind people selling them, since there is a demand and people who will be happy to buy them. But personally, I don't want to have seasonal DIYs before they can naturally spawn in my game. I also don't time travel and I like to wait for all the seasonal stuff to come in their own time! If I get them all now, it will ruin all those events/seasons for me when the time does come, because I'll have nothing new to collect. I don't even look at what the DIYs or seasonal furniture/clothes are, unless I they're on the page I'm looking at, but I'll scroll really fast so I can't really see them. I like to be surprised ^_^

I also have a self imposed rule where if I miss getting a seasonal DIY, tough luck. I'll have to wait til next year. Which is why I always grind the events until I get everything.

I prefer to collect these myself, although I did get some bunny day diys from giveaways because I missed that event and dont want to wait a whole year to get them

I was thinking exactly what you wrote, but i endend up buying all, i also wanted to decorate my island with them and didnt want to wait til november to decorate...
I will still haunt for them when fall will come, also not having the urge to collect every single recipe, will give me a chance to enjoy more every day! (fall colors are great)

Well, I can understand your sentiment but I've already engaged in getting out-of-season seasonal diys.

I'm SH and I'm exiting Fall, about to enter Winter, while my friends are NH. I'll probably ask for some summer diys. I did for the Cherry Blossoms. Like even though I got most crafted, I'd still collect the diys when it'll come in season in SH.

I have extra seasonal diys and I like trading.

I find getting seasonal DIYs out of season to be a bit pointless. I've had a few dropped off on my island by well-meaning visitors, but I can't do anything with them as I don't have the crafting materials that they require.

I'm happy to wait for the season in my own game.

Getting the DIY's would personally just ruin the fun of these events for me in the future as I'd have nothing to look forward to.
Also, in addition to the DIY, I'd have to purchase the supplies as well as I'd have no way of crafting them.
I'd only ever consider buying seasonal DIY's I have not obtained in the past (I have missed several from the Cherry blossom season and have thought about buying them though I don't really have much use for them as I got the ones I mostly wanted).
Just my thoughts on it though.

I guess it depends on your own preference with how you want to play the game. I've seen a lot of the seasonal items, and some of them are suitable to be used all year-round, so I understand as to why others may be inclined to get them now rather than waiting.

I know all of these DIYs will be eventually obtainable, but that's the benefit of having an open-market that allows players to trade with another. In my case, I personally don't want to purchase the DIYs, but there were items from fall/winter that I thought would be appropriate on my island. Realistically, having to wait three months to obtain these items is a long time, that's a quarter of a year!

Either way, it comes down to your personal preferences. :)

Eh, why not? Some of the seasonal DIYs look great in any season like the mush stuff, and some don't even make sense, like the ice candy in winter when it should obviously be in summer. Since buying the mats is pretty easy too, it's not like you won't be able to craft what you need. I'm personally waiting to get the recipes in that season, but I totally understand.

I collected as much of the cherry blossom stuff as I could, but I had to buy/trade a few of the final pieces. That event was so short! If they're in season (or have just gone out of season) I don't mind trading to get the last few of the set, rather than waiting a whole year to complete my collections

I can totally respect this too! Some people want to decorate and get things finished up quickly, and that's fine. I view myself being in this game for the long haul, but not everyone takes that POV

Personally I have purchased some of the Seasonal DIYS.

I will still have the fun of collecting materials in the respective seasons and helping others out with any duplicates I get. I do appreciate both mindsets though!

I haven’t bought any and don’t see myself doing it in the future. Looking forward to them and having access once the new season starts is definitely part of the game’s appeal to me. It’s like visiting an Island during another season—if I do that now, it’ll be less special once it comes around in my own game.

That said, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with doing either. Who knows, maybe if I was going for a forest design I’d consider getting some of those recipes. Knowing myself though, I’d probably limit the amount so that there’s still new DIYs to discover when Fall comes along.

there is nobody who can tell you what you should and should not do.
if you want your perfect island now but you do not want to TT and some things are not available yet, sure, go ahead.
if you want to TT for it, that's fine too
if you want to wait, all fine.
Just ask yourself what you enjoy about this game. is it the building, the waiting or the having? and also, if you usually don't play a game for a year or longer, will you still be playing ACNH to collect the DIYs you want at the time they are accessible
