Opinion on hacking?

I have some rocks I'd like to move, I'd also move retail. Basically, if I knew how, I'd do it. I think sometimes when people hack it can be completely stunning, but if you take it too far then it'll just break the game imo. So it's good but not all the time?

It all depends on the person. For me, I wouldn't hack, but I don't hate others who do. It all comes down to how YOU want to experience the game.

I don't hack because 1. I don't know how to do it and 2. I'm afraid I would corrupt my town. That being said, I feel like I would absolutely do it if I could. The hacked towns I've been to have been amazing and so creative! I don't fault them for doing it at all. Of course, I'm a filthy, filthy time traveler, so I do like to play a little fast and loose with the rules of Animal Crossing.

It's neat when I see fun layouts that are achieved with hacking, but I could never go through with it myself and I'd like there to be some guard just in case someone tries to sabotage a town. I heard of some rather unpleasant stories about Wild World towns and DS's getting bricked, but I'm not sure if NL hacking can affect others towns.

Not gonna lie, i've tried hacking before using powersaves, a device where you can plug in your cartridge and just put loads of stuff on to your save, It was fun, but the game quickly got boring. i've since lost my powersaves, and i now use a digital copy of the game so i guess that's that. As for my opinion on it, i think it's fine as long as you don't go about harming other people.

edit: I don't think powersaves allowed you to manipulate your town in anyway, so no hacked dream towns, but im not sure since its been a long time since i used it

I have a town that is. The only thing i did is do the decorating and get myself dreamies. Other than that i have to earn everything else. I love seeing peoples creativity.

I honestly quite enjoy finding hacked dream towns that do things I kind of wish we could do in the base game, like being able to make little docks in the river, putting clovers on the bridges, houses on the beach, or little things like that! I personally couldn't be bothered to do the whole thing myself but I find a lot of them really cool, especially cause most hacked towns are made to be based on stories or to tell a specific story that would be hard or take years to make in a normal town. Definitely wouldn't say to do it if it's your first time with new leaf because I think it does take the fun away from the game, but if you've been playing for years and have specific plans for a town, then go for it I suppose? The only time I wouldn't support it is if the town was made for malicious purposes like to make it so you can't go back to the bed to wake up and potentially lose progress.

Personally, I don’t hack. But I don’t mind people doing it. My friend only hacked to get one stone out of the way and to place a bridge I couldn’t have placed without hacking. I understand that, having a rock in the way can be such a bother.
Also, i occasionally enjoy visiting a nicely hacked town. Many hackers overdo it tho imo. It’s just not aesthetically pleasing for me to be in a town with trees and bushes everywhere so that walking is impossible. I just don’t enjoy overgrown towns.
But on the other hand I’ve seen so many clever cool things. Placing Crazy Redd booth somewhere in your town or having multiple big town trees were some cool things I’ve seen.
To sum up, I don’t mind other ppl doing it at all, it’s just not for me, I’m scared to corrupt my 3DS or save data.

I really like that idea and am actually tempted to do so myself! I absolutely love the look of public work projects on the beach, weeds in the ponds, and I once saw a town where they put a giezer in the river! Do you have a dream address?

I have no real problem with hacking. There's a lot of fantastic designs and towns made with it that would be nigh impossible without hacking. (Some things I've seen are actually 100% impossible without hacking.)

Having said that, sometimes seeing a bunch of hacked towns can get a bit stale, and I'm never going to do it myself. I have too many good memories working hard on my town without hacks, and I also am afraid I might mess something up. :P

I hack my town so I might be a bit biased but I think it's completely fine. It's your game, other people shouldn't decide how you should play it. I use it mostly so I can have multiple save files, and I keep my main town unhacked so I'm able to enjoy the game normally. Most people who hack do this and I see no issue with it. It only becomes a problem if hacking is used maliciously or people judge others on how they play.

Completely agree!

hmm honestly the only reason i'd hack my town is to place villager houses in a nice and neat way and not all over the place, i've had so many villagers move in infront of a bloody bridge or right behind the town hall and that one random house thats on the other side of the map, it just really irks me.

I've actually had issues after turning down hacked crap on Club Tortimer. More than one has spammed emotes causing lag to prevent leaving. Then there is the issue with inserting flags in the item's code somehow.

if i could, i'd hack away the dead spots, the only 12 bushes/trees in a row rule, and no bushes/trees directly next to a PWP/house/rock/river/pond rule.

i think if i could implement this my town would look twice as good.

so yeah, i wouldn't have a problem with hacking.

I think that it allows for more creativity, but at the same time it feels less like Animal Crossing. I?m against hacking my town as it?s not how the game was intended to be played. I especially don?t like the fact that players like digimon are selling hacked items when they are clear against the bell tree rules.
