I finally got some dirt paths in my town and they look great. However, they are a pain to create and maintain. Time traveling day-by-day to run along the path was tedious and not fun. I'm glad New Horizons is going to make it easier to have dirt paths. What are your thoughts about dirt paths?

I always had only dirt paths in my old New Leaf town, as patterns don't appeal to me.

I love dirt paths, and the natural look of them.

I'm glad we'll finally be able to make dirt paths in New Horizons, but they don't look as natural as the worn in paths in New Leaf.

They are perfectly rounded, and I like a little imperfection, but I'll take what I can get. ^_^

I have dirt paths, I really love them as well. I just let them happen naturally, I do not maintain them.

I like them! They look more natural than patterns. I don't have any since I can't maintain them easily. ;w;

I'm an avid dirt path fan B) I have them in both of my towns. I agree that while they look great they are tedious to create and maintain if I don't play every day. But if you play a lot you'll see them last a good long time! I've actually taken long breaks from ACNL after winter just because I was sad that my dirt paths were covered and thinking about recreating them put me off haha. It's nice that ACNH will allow us to create dirt paths but something about them doesn't look as nice and natural as ACNL dirt paths : ( I'm hoping that's not the only way to create them... but if that's the case, I'll probably end up using regular path patterns in the new game.

Anyways, I just wanted to show off some of my dirt paths in my towns because I'm very proud of them :3

They look great, Dizzy, reminds me of old Westeros.

How I miss it. :(

Some of my dirt paths from my deleted town can be seen a little in my old time travel topic. ^_^

I like the natural look of dirt paths, but the process for creating them is too complicated and time consuming for me, so I'd rather just lay down some tiles and create the illusion of a naturally made dirt path or admiring them in Dream towns.

I always preferred dirt paths over QR code path, mainly because of their natural look. I would love to have such paths in my town, as they would fit perfectly to my town theme. However, since it's difficult to make those and also pretty time consuming, I will probably never go for them, at least not in New Leaf. Since it is now much easier in New Horizons to get them, so I will use dirt paths then in the new game.

I used to hate them, lol but they really grew on me and I find them pretty charming. I still use QR paths in my NL town, though, except for the area around the camp site. But I might try it if I get tired of accidentally erasing tiles all the time (ugh). Dirt paths can look very nice with flowers and bushes planted around them too.

If I ever get NH I think I'll be going for a dirt path. They look pretty nice there and seem easier to maintain.

I think they look great. I don't think I'd ever make them myself, due to how much work they require. Good job to anyone who is able to maintain a town of dirt pathways.

I like dirt paths and use them in combination with stepping stones in my main town. I really don't put any effort into creating or maintaining them at all. Because I play every day and only walk on my paths, they form naturally in about a month or so and stay that way until the snow covers them up in the winter.

I'm really not a fan of the grass wear in the game that makes me not want to stray from my paths and I hope that it doesn't exist in New Horizons. I'd really be happy if everything stayed green all the time.

That's so depressing when the snow obliterates your dirt paths.

It added to the pile of reasons that finally resulted in me deleting my town.

I really wish snow was an optional thing.
It doesn't snow here and it's blindingly white and smothering. :(

Ive never tried to make dirt paths, they seem really nice looking but it doesn’t match my theme + would be annoying to maintain, I don’t play every day and having that would make me anxious to play to keep it up.

I love dirt paths, I just wish I had more control over them -- or really, over the ground in general. I wish we had a little more control over where we want grass to grow and where we don't. To me this is a huuuuge missed opportunity because fertilizer exists in the game, and its intended purpose is borderline useless! It seems to me that giving fertilizer the ability to regrow grass at will would not only be a lot more useful, but also go a long way toward justifying its existence in the game in the first place. I love the dirt paths and I wish I had more of them, but trying to maintain them was so exhausting I eventually gave up and put down tile paths instead. It's disappointing because I model my town after a woodland village in a cartoon I like.

I dig dirt. I just play the map, use existing bare areas to help or if not, place PWPs on them... The path forms naturally and I’ve never had trouble maintaining them and I think it works best for my style overall.

I really like the look that dirt pathways give to New Leaf towns. I used to use them in my favorite town.

I’ve always wanted dirt paths in my New Leaf town for a more natural look, but I didn’t want to put in the effort. My New Horizons town has more of a tropical island feel, so I am using the sand paths with a bunch of water.
