opinion of "ugly" villagers

so recently i've gotten into playing animal crossing with my mom again and i've been having a grand time
it's just that she's so stinkin' sweet!! she doesn't like rocket much, but they've been nothing but kind to her so she grew attached to her. when she asked to leave, i told her why not get rid of her since you don't think she's that cute? she just frowned and was like "she's a nice monkey. (LMAO) she gave me medicine so i like her" and i was just shocked?? like i'm not so quick to judge villagers anymore. limberg moved into my second town and a lot of people think hes ugly as heck but WOW now i like him!! (my mom said she would take him afterwards cause hes got a cute mouse beard) he calls me kiddo and stuff and is overall just !! hes a little mouse, why did i ever call him ugly? and gaston my man... hes french, what more could ya want?

anyways what do you guys think of "ugly villagers"
personally i feel like we shouldnt be "WOW I HATE THIS VILLAGER. THEYRE SO UGLY AND I WANT THEM OUT. KILL IT WITH FIRE" and call me a hypocrite because when i was 14 i did that a lot!! theyre little virtual animals and i think theyre worth a chance (": at least for a week or two!

Ugh, I get exactly what you're saying! I have a problem getting rid of the "ugly" villagers too because they are so sweet! And then I have to think to myself, am I *THAT* vain that I want to get rid of the ugly villagers for my want of a beautiful town?!

Im trying to not judge the villager so much anymore, but their actual home! Does it match my town? Stuff like that.

I know the struggle!

i dont really judge people on them getting rid of certain villagers i just dont like when theyre like "ew burn them"
(for example tabby isnt the prettiest but shes not worth burning D: )

judging villagers on their house is something i hadnt thought about i feel awfully silly aha

In my very very old town Harmony I had this mouse villager named Bella and she was my starter villager and I hated her a lot, and when I had her in boxes, I was kinda feeling bad kicking her out, and my sister kinda felt the same because she had Bella in her old town too.

I think when a villager is “ugly” and not super popular it’s easier for you to grow to appreciate their personality and quirks rather than start out appreciating them solely on their looks and such!! Don’t get me wrong I like the really popular villagers too, I have some of them. But like Nate, I used to think he’s sooo ugly and I feel like he’s definitely not popular, but he’s one of my top fav villagers now and won’t ever be leaving cape egg. I’m also getting Chow sometime soon! (Switching out Purrl and Flora for chow and Vivian rip) and I think he’s kinda ugly in a cute way

There are so many "less desirable" villagers that i just adore

Marcel - he's a clown pup how freaking adorable
Ricky - come on he's so cute with his little angry face
Coach - he's got a cute little smile and just wants you to do your best
Jambette - she's a queen
Nate - he's just your friendly lovable bear neighbor
Syliva - she's just out here taking care of her little joey

Most of the "ugly" villagers i usually think are the best! I don't like seeing people call them bottom of the barrel or that they hate them and "kill it with fire" crap

I used to hate villagers that I thought were ugly until Jambette popped up in my new(at the time) town.I thought,"Geez,why did I get an ugly, Mick Jagger frog in my town?",but after I started talking to her,I realized she was just a typical,sweet normal villager underneath all the lip gloss.She's still one of my favorites.There are still some villagers in the game that I think are not so nice to look at but if they wound up in my town,I'd give 'em a chance.

GAH I HAD THE SAME REACTION WITH MONIQUE.
(tabby i always loved and adored with all of my heart, i have 2 amiibo cards of her, one in my pocket for good luck and one in the collection)
i saw monique for the first time and literally raged cause i was 13 and thought i needed a cutesy town. everyday i would write her a letter calling her a "a sad, sad monroe misfortune" because she looked like a cheap marilyn monroe to me for some reason? there wa a pitfall increase near her house for some ODD, odd reason as well... but she was like a mum for some reason. so i started to like her, and then she moved from my town. i eventually scanned her back in one day and she stayed for a year.

I like to have villagers with good design, since I'm into cartoons and all. Since animal personalities are so bland in new leaf, I don't feel bad about trying to make the ugly ones move out. I have a lot of favorites that I need room for!

ive got a lot of unloved villagers in my town. barold, marcel, rasher, ganon, i used to have stitches and pietro too. idk why but i really enjoy odd villagers, even when most think they're ugly or unorthodox.

RIGHT?!?!?!?!?!?! I'll never understand the Pietro hate. He is so colorful and bright and beautiful! He's one of my favorites!

I somewhat agree with what you're saying. There have been several tier 5 villagers that I really enjoy, Jambette being one of them! But if you think about it, each villager has a personality type and each type ends up with the same dialogue. In saying that, each villager of the same personality is somewhat the same. So you can reach that point with any of them. (Disclaimer, this is not how things are in real life, so don't just dump one friend that acts like another because of looks or your preference, be nice to everyone) I really think that looks matter, especially when going for a specific theme in a town. Though, if you are just playing to play and have a natural town, I do not see anything wrong with this. (I know there are ways to have a themed town without having themed villagers) Instead of your mom having rocket, she could have Shari and the outcome would have been the same.Any Uchi gives medicine when the player is stung by Bees. I do realize that we end up picking up on the specific villagers that were nice to us and that is usually how we pick some of favorites. I am pretty sure that is why I liked Coco so much stemming from wild World. She was very nice to me and did not make any jabs at me like some of the other villagers did. To be honest all of town in City Folk were hodge podge villagers put together and they are definitely higher on the list than they would have been without being in my town.

I don't have a problem w/ a lot of villager designs, but Barold is one of the ugliest villagers in my opinion Not only his appearance, but his home is also disgusting-looking...

It took him MONTHS to move out and I'm happy he did! Now I can finally build my Police Station without his house interfering.

I've had a few villagers that I thought were ugly that I ended up liking and a few cute villagers that I ended up being underwhelmed by. I also never design my town by a theme so I don't need villagers with a specific "look". I'm always willing to give em a chance. That being said, has anyone ever had Wart Jr. in their town? He looks hideous on the amiibo card, but I've never had him so I don't know what he's like or if looks as bad in game haha. I'm thinking of inviting him to live in my town...

I personally dont feel like I rage against them unless I dislike their personality too... For instance, I hate Coach because he moved in front of my bridge and then gave me attitude (for some reasons the jock personality really rubs me the wrong way). I also find him sort of repulsive, but only compared to the other villagers (who, lets face it, are all pretty cute), and I do think he got more creepy looking to me the more he refused to move / made me feel bad about being so lazy (Lol)...

Personally, I'm always glad to see people liking the animals I don't. Selfishly, it makes me feel good to be able to give someone a villager they like that I don't - its silly but even though they're just pixels, it makes me feel guilty to send villagers to the void... Even Coach (though I still don't like you, buddy)...

I had him in my City Folk town and I loved him, he was one of the ones that I mentioned in my post. I also had him in a cycling town of mien in New Leaf and thought his appearance wasn't BAD, I really liked his interior, but his exterior was kind of rough, looked similar to a trash can to be honest, but he himself is pretty cool imo

Wart Jr. has been one of my villagers for a long time.I'd say that he looks a bit better in-game....he has good facial expressions and he always wears a smile.I can't guarantee he'd be the same for someone else but he's been one of the mellower crankies I've had.
