I hate how paranoid you have to be about villagers moving away. You can never predict who is going to move. I know they typically ask five days or so from the last moving request, but not always so that makes it really stressful for me. I don't really play every day, so whenever I go a few days without visiting my town I'm always worried that someone has left. And I hate going back in time, because I find it even more stressful to mess with the time. I'm so attached to all my villagers, that I would be heartbroken if any of them left.

I hope in the next game they make it mandatory for villagers to warn you before they can leave. Until they talk to you and you give them your permission (or refusal) they can't go anywhere. I know that would make things easier on me.

Yeah, it's really scary. I mean, I know that having villagers move in and out can be a lot of fun, but if you find villagers you really love, it's just a constant hassle and somewhat fear to have to make sure they don't leave, when you would never let them go anyways. With the exception of Peggy who I'm trying to get rid of, every single villager in my New Leaf village I plan on keeping forever.

I think I've heard that if you stop playing on a day where one of your villagers asked to move out, that no villagers will move out until you come back, but I'd be a little too nervous to test it out myself.

It is very scary, but I think that if you talk to your favourite villagers every time you play, you should be fine.
I've had Katt for nearly 5 months and haven't talked to her once (excluding when she first moved in), and she's still here

It is a worry of mine....but I've found as long as you go on every day and wander around all the villagers who are outside at that time you should be okay. The moving villager will always be outside each day before they move if they haven't told you they're leaving yet.
I wish there could be some kind of notice on the board or from Isabelle that whoever is thinking of leaving soon and you should go and chat to them or something. A bit like when the villagers tell you somebody is thinking of leaving
It's really not a good part of the game

Basically all my favorite villagers have moved away while I was time travelling so I dont have anything to worry about anymore :(

I hate that! Then I have to force myself to play even when I don't want to. Kinda makes me want to not play at all sometimes.

this has worked for me, and for others here as well. if you quit/save after denying a move-out request, then it seems nobody "decides" they're thinking of moving until you load the game back up, regardless of how much time passes by. I've time travelled 3 to 4 weeks ahead before using this method and nobody moved out. (of course for jumps that long its helpful if youve already got the beautiful town ordinance passed so you dont lose hybrid flowers during the hiatus/jump)

Yeah, this is my worst thing too, every day I hassle Lolly until she spills the beans over who's thinking of moving on, I keep a checklist of who I've seen so I can check for pings and a game diary of who moves and when, it would be so much sinpler if there was a solid, reliable way to keep tabs on your movers so no one sneaks off! But yeah, it's also true that you can take a break right after denying a mover, that's usually how people TT back to their current date without losing villagers if they had TT back in time :)

Since I play everyday, I don't usually worry about it. Last time I took a 3 month hiatus from the game, everyone was still there, so... I'm not really worried. But I can understand, since a lot of people here have their dreamies, that it can be saddening to lose a favorite. It happened to me a lot in WW, so... I feel your pain. :c

I wish that there was a game option to where you could choose to set certain properties to yes or no. I know some people love the cycling, others hate it, so have an option to set it.

I would think it would work like Isabelle and the ordnances. Have 3-4 awesome things that people have mentioned in the game that they would love to have, you get to choose one (for x amount of bells), can switch whenever.

Or add another phone item to the game (like the lovely phone) except this is the rumor phone - if you use it, you get to hear the rumor of who is moving out.

or the ability to "lock" villagers.....maybe only up to a certain number, so even if you do lose somebody, you can at least protect some of them.

I know it's part of the game and that I don't think they'll give us a choice in the next, but I agree. I work a full time job that takes up all of my time, I don't always have time to sit and play and anytime I do have time, a villager will have moved out and gave no warning or anything because I couldn't play.

It's Animal Crossing's way to make you come back to the game, along with daily tasks, so I think if you take that away you'd be taking a piece of Animal Crossing away... just my thoughts though ^ ^

They should give you the option to activate and deactivate movings whenever you want to, it would be really useful ><

Wow, there are a lot of people wishing for features in these games that would take all the fun away. It's almost as bad as the Harvest Moon fandom wanting the series to be strictly dating simulator.

Yeesh.

I don't have any daily tasks left to do, so my villagers are all I have left. I've caught every bug, fish, and sea creature. I've paid off both of my houses and my town is finished with landscaping. I've kept my town because I love my villagers so much, but worrying about them moving has kind of ruined the fun of things.

For the days I don't feel like playing, I hop on anyway, but just talk to two or three of my dremies, find if someone's moving out or not and eyah. It's actually pretty easy, plus it helps to build your friendship with them.

I kind of agree. I feel like too much customisation in terms of game settings would take a lot of the charm and fun out of the AC. I understand that that a lot of people here (myself included) end up playing in a very purposeful/goal-oriented way and sort of 'cheat the system', but AC is kind of meant to be a chill "take things as they come" sort of game. The fact that a lot of the things that happen in the game are things you can't control is the whole point, villager move-ins/outs included.

Maybe options like that could become available once someone completes their entire catalogue, unlocks all PWPs, goes through all of the events, and achieves whatever other goals there are to achieve in the game? I feel like the only thing you'd have to do once that happens is meet and befriend new villagers so I personally wouldn't want to 'lock' my residents, but at least the truly hardcore completionists have some extra options available to them.

I agree with this so much. I missed playing the game for a day, since I got so preoccupied with other games. I thought it'd probably be okay and nobody would move but boy was I wrong. I loaded the game up and Isabelle told me Coco was moving. Thank god she wasn't one of my dreamies at all. She was someone i'd actually wanted to move for a long time! LOL. I'm just glad she decided to move out on her on accord, instead of me having to spam my villager's dialogue for moving rumours. But I did check the day before this to make sure nobody was moving so I don't know how this slipped past me.

I'm starting to loose interest in the game, but i'm literally forcing myself to play it since I don't want anybody to move out. That's the price you pay for having dreamies I guess. Although I did load up my other cartridge and found that Julian has moved away. I'll admit i'm a little bit sad about it but I just couldn't keep up with the constant checking of two cartridges. Atleast it gave me a chance to get Fang, who admittedly I wanted to replace Chief with but now I can have them both. :)

There really needs to be a hiatus setting in the next AC. It will save everyone a lot of stress. Heck, maybe even an entirely different way villagers move out.

I really hate how they can just box up without you ever hearing a word about it. One time in my previous village, I refused a move-out request a villager made, and maybe 3 days later, suddenly found Tia boxed up with no warning whatsoever. Not one freaking word. Much cursing was done.

I can understand how it's incentive for people to play every day, but it's absolutely infuriating how you can so easily get screwed out of a favorite villager. Ideally, the best way to handle it would've been to have the next mover ALWAYS ping the instant they next see you.
