so i havent completed my house expansions yet (need to get an upstairs + a basement) but i was wondering what everyone thought of the progression of the expansions compared to in NL? also the pricing of the expansions. i remember being able to choose which rooms you wanted to add/expand. like you could just have a basement and an upstairs and fully expand those if you wanted to, which is what i did in NL.

imo not having that option has totally thrown off my plans for my main room - ive always found the extra rooms (besides the basement/upstairs) to be a little awkward? but hhhh i need the storage space. also not having access to certain exterior designs (different roofs, doors, mailboxes) until you upgrade completely is pretty frustrating to me lol.

Yeah, the fact that this game locks you into getting every room in order, AND ties expansion level to being able to customize the exterior really sucks after all the choice NL had :(
I like having a really small house, but I like being able to choose my exterior, so now I have four rooms that I don't know what to do with.

this is exactly what im struggling with right now lol.
also ive never really been into the idea of making my extra rooms like 'real' rooms (kitchen, bathroom, etc) but that seems to be what a lot of furniture is geared towards

After reading this thread I realize that I'm in the minority and I have all "real" rooms, what I wish we could have is more rooms upstairs because let's be honest, most houses don't just have one room, like I'd be happy just having a duplicate layout of the downstairs for the upstairs just to get more rooms

I don’t like that we don’t get to pick which rooms we want ....and that we have to wait to customize the house after the expansions. Maybe I just want a small two room house (with a different house exterior than the default).

The side rooms are too small for any of the furniture set. It feels like they wanted to add variety based on the options they gave you in Happy Home Designer, but it just doesn't work.
I would have preffered if they had given us the options to pick the size and style of the rooms.

I'm actually not a fan of the full-size houses (in terms of NL houses). I didn't usually upgrade to the full 8x8 side rooms, and I never liked adding the back room. In fact, just a full 1st floor, an upstairs, and basement worked for awhile.

Tying exterior upgrades to the interior feels arbitrary, like it's just forcing me to get upgrades I don't want or need. There's not enough stuff to fill a house that size (yet). I've been trying to pace my upgrading so I don't have a 2nd floor or basement yet, and I'm so tired of my siding T_T

I think the prices were a bit much. I just wish the sizes of the side rooms could be bigger. I want to put complete sets in there, but it seems like it's just too crowded. Maybe someday!

i’m not happy with the room sizes tbh - i have so many room ideas and i find myself struggling to implement most of them as the side rooms are too small and everything would look and feel cramped, which i don’t like ;u;

Side rooms are definitely too small. I wish we could just have one large room on each floor (main level, upstairs and basement).

I wish we could have the left/right and the back room bigger or at least, have the option to change their sizes. I thought the top floor and basement were off at first, but then I remember HHD throwing us with these weird shaped rooms. So after decorating them, they became one of my favorite rooms. To be honest, I don't mind if everything stays the same. I'm extremely satisfied with how my rooms turned out.

I woulda loved if we could choose what room to get first, at the start I knew I wanted a murder dungeon, but didn't really have plans for the rest of my rooms, so of course the basement had to be last unlock :( ...

That said in the end it didn't matter, because I thought the upgrades were too cheap actually (or maybe Turnips just need to be nerfed).
I bought turnips and in a single week I made millions so was able to get multiple upgrades for my house; and in the end I was fully upgraded (even paid of the final loan that doesn't matter) too quickly and that did kill the game for me a bit coz it removed big long term goals.
