On a scale of 1-10, how shy are you?

7 I guess. I'm not shy around people I know, but other than that I'm really shy. On forums I am (I dont have any friends on here because of it), but I find on an MMO I play, I'm a lot less shy. When I used to play I filled my whole friends list. Too bad they closed it (it's coming back though!).

Unless you're my Dad or sister, offline I'm a 10 (or at least a 9). You'd be surprised at the lengths I'd go to just to avoid someone I barely/don't know.

For example: I've been living with my aunt and uncle for over a year and a half now.. But I usually keep myself locked in my room. And when I need to leave the room for something, I make an effort to look distracted/busy so they won't talk to me. (It's pathetic, really, and I really want to get it under control asap. It's just... easier said than done)


As for online, I'm probably more of a 7-8, although I might seem more like a 5 - but believe me, I'm not lol.
At least 92% of the time I spend online is just lurking, because I'm not comfortable speaking up.

The only time I do speak up is when I feel confident enough that I won't make a fool of myself. (which is why I might come off as a 5 instead of a 7 or 8)

As of right now, maybe a 4? I am not very shy. I always try to talk and meet new people. But, sometimes I can be really quiet and feel nervous when I talk to people I am trying to impress ha.

It kind of annoys me that many people confuse shyness with being an introvert. Just because someone isn't super shy doesn't make him less of an introvert.

I wasn't saying that Introvert and shy was the same thing, I was simply adding that on top of being shy I am also a introvert which simply feeds into my shyness.

Probably an 9. Around my friends I'm maybe a 7, but in everyday situations I really freak out. When I check out I have to make sure I have the right amount of money at least 10 times, and I have to mentally prepare for checking out and interacting with the cashier (sounds pathetic, I know). And I never, ever ask store employees for help. I just can't, it makes me so nervous and I have to actually speak loud enough for them to hear me, which is also difficult. It's like I try to talk to strangers but my voice just won't work and I either barely whisper when I talk or I just can't get it out of my throat, and if I do, I slur my words together. So I just stay quiet most of the time. :x

5/6? I'm a big mix of shy awkward and occasionally emotional when I'm sleepy. I remember last year the teacher sat this boy next to me I didn't make eye contact for maybe 2 days. Our teacher made us work with the person next to us so that's when I finally made contact. he was so cute omfg he had long black hair and freaking blue eyes I almost melted with two tattoos ahh. Also when I'm in public I can't really eat? Idk like I'm probably just really awkward.

8.5 or 9? I'm okay on the forums but even here I'm afraid to approach things like the IRC. IRL I don't have many friends, I hardly talk to anyone and I've broken down and cried due to having to present a project. I can't even buy things at a store by myself. It's pretty bad. Dx I don't have full-blow anxiety like some people, though. I've gotten a lot better, I just never want to present things. Ever.

When it comes to close family and friends I'm definitely a one.
