I'm Australian and had a friend in the UK try with my extra Australian Tomodachi and Smash Bros demo codes and they would not work on an EU 3DS, so i'm assuming the Pokemon one is the same.

But I'm pretty sure that an EU 3DS game will be able to work on the Australian/New Zealand 3DS. My games that I have bought online works for PAL, and I have double checked with them to see if that it also includes the AUS/NZ 3DS

Yes, games work on both the AUS/EU 3DS because they're both PAL region, but the eshop works differently and the demo codes are locked to Nintendo or something like that
