Try the Alex Rider series also, I had a great time reading these books, really entertaining.

Ooh! Technically it's a graphic novel, but Maus is really amazing. I would suggest reading the 2nd one as well, because the ending of Maus one feels incomplete. (I haven't read Maus 2 yet because it is checked out :/)
