Old References

Well, here's a (not so) good insult I just came up with that, uh, makes a reference to something very old.

"Yo mama so fat she's bigger than the Venus of Willendorf!"

The Venus of Wllendorf is actually like a few inches tall I'm sorry
I like this. I laughed out loud. :D
If you said fatter than the Venus then it wouldn't matter that it's 2 inches tall. :)

I guess I'll go with a few movie quotes. See if anyone knows where they come from.

"You know I love you more than my luggage!"

"What did you get me? I hope I don't like it." "You'll have to keep it; the man at the zoo told me he won't take it back."

"You remind me of a man." "What man?" "The man with the power." "What power?" "The power of voodoo." "Who do?" "You do." "Do what?" "Remind me of a man." "What man?"

The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer!

And I still don't understand this thread. Haha.

The quote, "And the walls will ooze green slime!" from SpongeBob is apparently a reference to Amityville Horror. I wasn't aware of this until yesterday, when I was reading a Wikipedia article about it.

Two points for you! :)

I wish I knew the other two... the one about the zoo is stumping me. It seems really familiar but I probably don't know it. Based on the one I immediately got I thought it might be from another movie from that time period. Bringing Up Baby? But that doesn't seem right...

I don't know. I'm give up. :p

That one is from The Thin Man. Nora is trying to get Nick to tell her what he got her for Christmas.

Oh shoot! I totally should've gotten that. Do I notice a trend? Is the third reference also from a Myna Loy film? ;)

Oy, does anyone remember the "I'm Just A Bill" song from School House Rock? It used to air on ABC's One Saturday Morning in the 90s, but I'm pretty sure it's older than I am.

Yes, and conjunction junction, what's your function...lol. That also reminds me of the film Reality Bites, a lot of cultural references there from Gen X 90s.

I love old film quote trivia, am a classic film freak. There should be a game thread for that, but may not be a lot of people into it, seeing that original post with the film quotes made my day, though I think I'm wrong on the Marx brothers one...it's something else.
