OK

I absolutely hate school right now, I learn more on the internet than school.

You're gonna regret saying that. A few years from now you're gonna think "I sure am happy I went to school! Now I have a job and decent income". I'm a college student and I'm having one of my best years. The only reason I can think of why a person would hate school is if he/she's constantly bullied.

lmfao
people defending school systems smh
school, much like society itself, is a flaming pile of horse****.
there is nothing redeeming about any grade, college or highschool or otherwise. in fact, college is like going to highschool all over again! it's so fun, everyone is so mature and awesome

society is just garbage. the end.

(please note i am speaking strictly of the social experience, not academic. academic differs too greatly from school to school so yeah)

just read the tldr
"school represents everything wrong with our society" amen amen, god bless god bless
we have a winner

It's an endless cycle of waiting for the weekend to roll around.

Yeah it's not that I dislike school or anything it's just it's well... boring. Not the classes or anything that's another story itself but there isn't really a crowd at school I'd like to hang around. I've been at the same school my entire life so I pretty much know everyone in my grade except for the few odd new students and what not but they all join one of the current groups in the end anyway.

Only three more years left for me so I guess that's alright.

One thing I absolutely hate is walking around some areas on the upper floor. I have a fear of heights and in a certain building the walkways are quiet narrow as they have bag racks plus everyone waits outside for their teacher to arrive so most of the time you're squeezed against the railing to try and get past. The majority of my classes are upstairs as well ;^;

(Don't even get me started on some of the students there)

As someone who once dreaded going to elementary or middle, I was surprised when I actually liked High School.
I'm hardly ever picked on anymore and I have a great group of friends who I thought I'd never meet. My teachers are amazing too, they make class go by so fast since they tend to keep the material interesting. High School has also given us more freedom, the ability to choose between literally hundreds of classes.

I mean sure I didn't like some of my teachers, but that's normal. You won't always like all of your teachers. I guess every school is different. :L

Reading previous posts...you do not learn more on the internet then in school omg. The internet is home to misinformation. I cannot tell you how many times I've learned something in school and then saw it on the internet completely wrong. It's actually the opposite, in school you not only learn educational factors but social factors. Skills like working as a group (and dealing with group members) or making a speech, things most jobs require. Things that I would never learn on the internet.

That, I agree on. Can't avoid the corrupts ones .-. They're growing.

unfortunately so. we can try to protect the ones that arent, but... i dont think they would last long either way, if you know what i mean. the government has a lot of power, money talks, religion talks, etc etc. so while its nice to see people having a good time at their schools, its moreso bittersweet. (yes my cynicism levels are through the roof whoops)

I dislike school for different reasons. I can't comprehend complex material and my attention span is low. I'm not meant for school. It doesn't help they force you to wake up at 5 and be there at 7. That's unacceptable.

Just lay low and avoid the popular kids and relish on the fact that they will all be failures. Failing their dreams and getting pregnant before their ready. It happens.

I wake up at 6 am and I need to be at school before 7:30 am. I arrive earlier.
It gets much worse in other countries to be honest. Some 5-10 year old kids in my country walk through mountains and have to brave the rain to get to school because they are poor. Some have to walk miles to get to their school, and none of them ever complain. While we're here talking about how bad school is. We should at least be grateful that we are lucky enough to have school, because alot of people don't have proper education or they simply can't go to school because of problems with money. School isn't bad, it's the system and the people of the school. Some teachers just don't give a **** about their students, and some or even alot of students are just total d***. Excuse me for my language, just trying to express myself.

forgive me, yes; i was generalizing, but what i mean is the system and the population within said schools, not the actual idea itself. like learning is great and awesome but the way its done is so wrong a lot of the time.

I agree with you. Alot of teachers ways of teaching is unfair and bull****. Once my teacher asked me to re-write my four-page story because of my messy handwriting. And for an english test we have to memorize a story and write it down exactly as what we read, including punctuation marks.

My 11th grade English teacher basically shot me down after I spent a long amount of time working on the outline for a research paper, even though it was done properly. I almost lost it. Screw her so much.

It might have to do with the actual curriculum. What sort of literature is required?

For mine, there's three different classes of literature I have to take if I want to get my DCS (Diploma of College Studies). First up, the class Literature and Writing involves doing the basics of literary analysis, and it's mostly about French literature. I only failed once.
Second, Literature and Imaginary involves the same topic as the previous one, except this time it's explanatory essay and the works are more about playing with your imagination. Naturally, they're trickier to do than the previous one, so this I where I failed twice in a row.
And then, we have Quebec Literature. I believe it's a combination of the previous classes with your critic thrown to the mix. This is also when you get to do the Ministerial Examination of College English. It's crucial for obtaining DCS.
Also, there's Language and Communication which finally doesn't involve much of literature, and is the only class I managed to have success on my first try. It's all about being fully aware on how should you communicate.

Every curriculum in Quebec is forced to go through 4 French/Literature classes, 3 philosophy classes, 2 English classes, 3 Physical Education classes, and 2 optional classes (next semester will have Quebec History replacing one of the 2 optional classes for newcomers).

I am not a good student. I can barely touch what is considered an average student. I suck at everything that has numbers on it. Social Studies, I'm terrible at it. That includes Geography and I just don't understand maps at all.
I have a tough time remembering the complex words and meanings we learn in Biology.
And the list goes on ><

I am only good at English and Literature classes because I love reading, and in music because I have had musical education all my life. But it's tough to keep the necessary grades with just three subjects to not become a lower-than-average student.

I hate studying and I don't understand the material most of the time.

But studying aside, I get along with my classmates. ^^ They all treat me well and my closest friends are really closest friends. I have never had bullying issues in school and generally I really appreciate anyone that is part of my class.

I don't know about other countries, but America's current education system is just prison in disguise.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love knowledge, education, and learning in general. But the way American schools try to achieve "education"? How can you even call that "educating". Students are bound by law to attend. 8 hours of their daily lives are spent sitting around being inefficiently force-fed information. What's worse is that most parents don't even question the quality of their children's school. Did I mention that such early wake-up times are UNNATURAL for teenagers? School is unhealthy. Don't get me started on the things they serve for "lunch".

Idk so far school in England isn't that bad
Then again I haven't been in school since March but
American's seem to have it rough. I saw a tumblr post and 'our[England's] A is their[America's] C'
I mean I'm considered gifted but I've seen American's called stupid who're better than me
It confuses me especially the whole 'freshan, senior, sophmore' thing

Man, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that; that sounds like paradise.

But it might also be the material itself. I'm assuming in French Lit. you've had Voltaire/Camus/Rimbaud and a bunch of other stuff. Was it just not that enjoyable to read? And I can't imagine that Quebec has produced outstanding lit., but I could be wrong.
