Nook's Cranny Operating Hours

Am I being dumb? Or have any of you had this error message? "Due to circumstances, our operating hours for today have changed."

Maybe a new day is trying to start, but something is preventing it, like your gate being opened. I remember the shops doing something like that in New Leaf, if the new day wanted to start, but something was stopping it. Have you tried save/quitting and starting the game up again?
