It would be great if when visiting random islands, with the Nook Ticket. When exploring a random island. You can occasionally find a mine to go into. And then you can mine for a larger amount of iron, silver, gold, platinum and even gems.

Craft things with them into necklaces, bracelets and more.

Blathers will visit you at night. He will explain that he’s heard about that certain islands has hidden gems in their mines to find. However since the museum hasn’t got an room area for the gems to be displayed in. Blathers will want you to help him upgrade his museum with the required materials. The room to the gems will be accessible up the stairs, behind where Blather’s is standing.

After upgrading the museum. Blathers will then give you an exclusive Nook Ticket to visit a random island successfully, that has a mine entrance.

The gems you can find are rubies, sapphires, topazes, emeralds, diamonds, quartzite, and much more.

Also in the mines you can also find other artifacts as well. That doesn’t require you to dig from the surface.

Ohhhh! This is such a fun idea! Someone actually made a concept art of it on Twitter! I would really love a better place to mine rocks and iron for sure!

That's such a great idea honestly it sounds so fun! Hitting rocks is fine, but this mining adventure would really be so cool!

yeees this sounds so good! Silver for silver tools, platinum for unbreakable tools (or diamond)!
NL had all these gemstones in the form of ores, so maybe they're bringing it back somehow? I hope so, would add much more depth to the game.

Yes that's the idea as well behind the silver, gold and platinum. To increase it's durability.

Speaking of which. If this topic idea is ever implemented into the game. It would also be amazing to see, when the select button is hovering over our tools. For us to see how much durability is left on our tools. So we can have a better understanding how many uses are left, before they break.
