Do you guys think they'll make events for more than just holidays? I can't imagine a whole lot of cool new all year long stuff coming from the themed holiday events.

Do you have an example of what you mean when you say non-holiday? I mean...they have fishing and bug tourneys, and they have some smaller holidays that are national ones and not global. What exactly would you be looking for when you say non-holiday events? I would be in favor of more obscure holidays...but everything I can think of to add would still technically be a holiday...just not one of the "big" ones.

Maybe they could add an Animal Crossing equivalent of Record Store Day, and set up a flea market in the plaza...and you could buy a variety of KK Songs, including rare new ones? And maybe get a new shirt with a logo on it. Yeah...I'd like that.

... I kind of hope they give national holidays of regions to different regions? Obviously they can't do it with all of them or to all of them for all regions (the translations @.@) but I hope they do some.
It would be nice for a "around the world" learning experience... plus, it'll fill out the calendar more for everyone with a holiday they would do on x region anyways.

I really enjoyed in New Leaf when I got to visit a JP town for some of their exclusive holidays.

Didn't all versions of the game already have some of the Japanese holidays? I thought they had stuff like Grandparents Day, and Children's Day. Unless I'm just losing my mind. Lol.

I'm more curious to see what holidays will be included, given that events don't seem to be regional anymore. Will everyone get to celebrate the Summer Solstice now, or might we even get Tanabata or Obon?

Only the Gamecube version had Japanese holidays in the English release.

I think our first test will be whether we see carp windsocks during Golden Week.

There is actually several that are region exclusives in NL that had exclusive items.
Here is a link with more info.

And tbf, NA region does celebrate days like Grandparents day in the public school elementary systems in USA (Usually grandparents go to school for lunch or you make special crafts for them.) So they aren't much of a Japanese Holiday exclusive thing.

I was talking about Easter, Christmas, Halloween, etc when I said holidays. I guess holidays wasn't really the right word to use. I've always seen fishing and bug turneys has more of annual mini-games and not events. I'd love to see some none American holidays, other game release events or even something completely random just to spice things up. I love collecting items but holiday items (like easter egg stuff) is only really usable once per year.

I kind of hope not. I'd really hate it if things started modeling after PC - a nonstop whirlwind of events. You don't get to just enjoy the town that way. I like having the holidays, a few events like fishing and bugs, and the rest of the time not feeling pressure to complete things.

I'd actually like to see some of the Wild World events come back, like Bright Nights! It'd be fun to be able to decorate your house as well this time, and it doesn't even have to be a competition.
