Kind of rude of your boyfriend to do something like that... I would have been annoyed too, but luckily, this never happend to me. My boyfriend sometimes plays my game to check on my villagers. 
Last semester I was just studying with some people I used take Japanese with, and this girl said she played Animal Crossing. Then I told her that I did too. Some people were like "What's Animal Crossing?" and gave skeptical looks, so I told them about the gameplay. They were used to other types of co-op games, so they asked some pretty good questions. Then they were all "Ohhh okay." Then left it alone. People around me don't really care lol.

But I like Battlefield and Animal Crossing ;-; And I get just as crazy and obsessive over both, lol.
Also, idk anyone irl that plays video games period, let alone animal crossing. But my friend always makes fun of me about animal crossing and how crazy I get when a villager moves in a bad place or it's one that I don't want. I play with his sister sometimes, and he always jokes that he's gonna tell her to trample all my flowers and ruin my paths and leave garbage. And I'm like THAT IS NOT EVEN FUNNY. IT TOOK ME A LONG TIME TO GROW THOSE HYBRIDS AND LAY THOSE PATHS. He doesn't get it.

I don't get made fun of but sometimes I'm treated like I'm ignorant of all other video games and the differences between PC, handhelds, and consoles. I don't make it a point to show people otherwise so I guess it doesn't really bother me all that much. Just be who you are and hope others respect you for it

Nobody around me actually cares or know I am playing this (and not like I let them too) but one friend of mine who is also playing AC IS ACTUALLY the one making fun of me. Calling me hacker for selling turnips, calling me unfaithful to my dreamies of constant changing and yea totally insult everything I do. I usually ignore such people whether or not they understand my game because what matter is I am happy with what I am doing =)

I've gone my entire life not caring what other people think about my interests
I like what I like, putting up a facade to please other people takes too much work and isn't worth the effort put into it imo

People tease people about stuff all the time. You should just try not caring and eliminate the people out of your life that do things like this to you.
