No Fruit In Letters

I always collect foreign fruit through letters, which I did when I first started my town. But when I switched to a forest-style town about a year ago I cut down all of my fruit trees (except a little orchard area) and I accidentally sold all my peaches. I started sending the villagers a letter a day, trying to get them to send me a peach in return. But in the four cycles I've done, I've received no fruit at all.

These are the letters I've tried:

• I love fruit!
• Please send fruit!
• Hello! I found this for you!
• Hi! I found this gift for you
• I picked this for you!

And a few longer ones, begging for peaches.

I've included the following as gifts:

• Fruit (native and foreign, including tropical fruits)
• Flowers (including hybrids)
• Shells
• Furniture

The villagers don't always send a return gift, but some do place the gift I send in their rooms. I've gotten mostly furniture, with some wallpaper, flooring, and clothing.

What's the deal?! Do any of you have fool-proof methods for getting fruit in letters?

No, I had no idea you could hint, hint for items in letters! Do you need some peaches? I can bring you some if you like

I never even knew that you could get fruit in letters. i always get clothing or furniture items!
I would suggest just asking someone on the forums for fruit, or do random chores for villagers.
Sometimes, when I do things like get signatures or find fish or bugs for some villagers, they give me foreign fruit.

In my cycling town, my "mom" gave me foreign fruit. Twice!
The letter was pretty cute.

In my experience, getting foreign fruit is rare from villagers. They occasionally give foreign fruit in return for a favor.

It does happen. But for me at least it is rare.
