Nintendo should be updating a lot of things. Or better yet, don't implement them in the first place imo. Especially those related to quality-of-life. In this case, the "starter" interiors. I found it rather ridiculous that starter villagers should come with such unfair setup, when they actually have an "original/full version" design that players can redeem if they, say, kick them out then re-invite them later on, or avoid them as starters altogether lol. WTF kind of logic is this. What's the point...?
Some will argue this as Nintendo wants players to play AC "in its intended organic way" and "grow as you progress in-game hence the basic setup". Which I do not agree, but can totally respect, because organic or not, everyone plays differently, each to their own preferences. What I have a problem with, is that it presented a somewhat cruel choice: stuck with this house, or forfeit your emotional investment with this particular villager you like, kick them out then invite them back and start over again. And, to further rub it in (especially to newer player or those unaware) none of the effort in giving the starters furniture/items would matter, as it won't work. You can't transform it into the look that you'd like them to have. These are imo such wasteful yet unnecessary game mechanics(?). It left a bad aftertaste once reality sinks in. (yes, a similar problem existed in ACNL too)
Fortunately (?) we are still given the workaround to counter this problem. Sadly I don't think Nintendo will change this starter villagers basic setup thing, as this highlights the "play and grow with the game naturally" theme that has been emphasized all along. I see it as a cheeky reminder from Nintendo to players that even in AC, reality still haunts you from time to time, and painful struggles are real lol.
