Nintendo Network ID question

I'm not really sure if I posted this in the right place, so feel free to move it if it is. Anyway...

I bought my 3DS back in May 2011, I believe, and back then, there was no such thing as "Miiverse". I added all of my friends and then because I bought one of the original 3DS', I got the free ambassador games too, so I downloaded some of them too. However, if we fast forward to October 2013, I purchased a Wind Waker HD WiiU. Of course, you can link a Nintendo Network ID to your WiiU account so you can access Miiverse, which I did so. Now, I'm not sure when I discovered you could link Miiverse to your 3DS, but it was definitely after I had created my NNID account. I had added some people to my friends list on the WiiU, too. Now, here's my question.

I want to be able to link my NNID to my 3DS as well. I'm just worried that if I do so, I'm going to lose all the friends I added on my Nintendo 3DS (some of them I may not be able to contact very often so I may not even be able to readd them, so I don't really want to lose any of my 3DS friends). Does anyone know what would happen if I link my NNID to my 3DS? Will I lose all of my 3DS friends or my WiiU friends or will they just be connected/shared?

I know this may seem like a stupid question, but I just want to ask to be on the safe side.

By friends on the Wii U, do you mean people that you've followed on Mii Verse, or is there a way to add friends on the Wii U like there is on the 3DS? I have a Wii U, but I don't know anyone else who does atm, so I have never really thought about adding friends. If you enter it in like the friend codes on the 3DS, I don't believe those would transfer. If you mean people who you follow on MiiVerse, those will transfer, because they are linked to your account.

Your 3DS friends will still be there, as even though the NNID is linked, things haven't gotten past that stage on 3DS and probably will never.

No no, I literally mean people I have added to my friends list on the WiiU, not people I have followed on Miiverse. ^^
