Nintendo E3 Rumours - Tom Nook Playable in Super Smash Bros. U?

So quite a huge leak has appeared about what will be appearing from Nintendo at E3. This is of course unconfirmed and as such a rumour but I thought this part was quite interesting regarding new characters in Super Smash Bros.

There will be a teaser for Bayonetta 2 at the E3 too, and a Yoshi?s Island 3 teaser. They will also show a pretty shocking teaser for Smash Bros U/3DS. The game will feature sightly different gameplay than older installments of the Smash Bros series. The 3DS version will be very different to the Wii U one, content wise. There will be a few newcomer characters shown at the teaser: Little Mac, Takamaru, Tom Nook, Palutena, Dark Pit (the source says he is not sure if it?s a transformation for Pit like Zelda/Sheik or a standalone character), and Bayonetta.

What do you think about all this information? Would you like to see Animal Crossing characters take this kind of role in the new SSB game?

I fail to see how those Animal Crossing characters would actually function in a fighting game. One would think that if they were to include an Animal Crossing character, they would have done that in Brawl, considering, you know, it had a stage and all. I don't see them functioning with the rest of the Smash World in the way that the core characters do. Also, Dark Pit would not be a transformation since Nintendo knows he is another character entirely. It would make more sense to have him as another character. He would be like Ganondorf is to Captain Falcon.

I haven't played all of Kid Icarus, but does Dark Pit have a different move set than regular Pit? I would think he'd just be another re-color like in Brawl.

Also, I really can't see Tom Nook fighting...
Maybe they saw Mario in a Tanuki costume, lol.

They just sound like the trophy items to me, I just don't see them being main characters unfortunately. I always thought K.K. would make a better smash bros character anyway, he has a weapon already at least.

Would his final smash be to crush the opponents with massive debt? I really doubt that is true as smash characters always derive their fighting moves from the games they come from. What could Tom Nook possibly do to fight?

He could trap them in a house that appears on a map then they would have to collect enough bells before the house crushes in on them.

you know, i was thinking, if they were to put in an animal crossing character, tom nook is the perfect person. Think about it, who makes the most money in the game? who has knowledge of everything that enters his store? Who has the most connections to the outside world? Who can order anything for his "shop"? Tom Nook is like Batman, he's rich, he can buy pretty much anything he wants, and he knows how to use every axe, fishing rod, net, chainsaw, shovel, watering can, every single chair, couch, c4, lamp, whatever, he knows how to use it. So yes, Nookman is a logical choice.

So I've been thinking of how the character would work. I think it would be the generic boy/girl character, and switching colors would allow the gender swap.

The moves would be to hit with an axe, probably something with a net/shovel, and the final smash could be something involving a giant pitfall or making it rain with bells.
