Hey everyone,

I know that some of you aren't aware of Nintendo Connect24, a Wii hardware feature. This enables the Wii to be online 24 hours a day, seven days a week. While this may not seem like much, it means a lot. Let's say, for example, that you own Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and Animal Crossing Wii. You have specified that you own these games in your personal games list using the Wii hardware, and updates for these games will be sent to the flash hard-drive of your Wii. For example, there's a new character available for SSBB, and the developers send it over to you. Once you turn on the system, it will ask you if you want to install these updates on your game. If you have the game on hand, you can insert it into the Wii, and the updates will be burned onto a special RW portion of the disk. There will be two different portions for each layer of a Wii disk - One, DVD readable, two, DVD re-writable. The second portion will be used for updates and such.

So, hope this clears everything up.

lovely! Sounds great, my only problem is will it add to a person's internet bill to be on all the time? Also will it allow people to come into your AC town and destroy it while you sleep?

Well, I don't believe that if a person has DSL or Cable, basically broadband, that they get charged for how long you're online. It's just a monthly fee, so no, it would not go on the person's internet bill.

I've heard Iwata say that people could come to your town and leave messages for you to see once you get back, but I'm not sure if they could destroy it. Probably not.

if the updates happen when you're "asleep" why does it ask you if you want to download it? >_>

The second part sadly yea. I think there is a way to keep people out.

Will the Wii be portable? I don't have wi-fi at my house.
It's a normal console like NES, SNES, N64, GCN, it's not portable
Rats. I live so far in the country that we can't even get high speed internet out here. >_<

Well, f Koeller means portable as in, "Can I take it to a friends/family's house"
yes. I take my NGC everywhere. Ive even played it in my car

Eh, I'm a little divided about this. Since I have cable internet, and since my bedroom (where my Wii will be) is at the exact opposite where the computer is, well, you can see what I mean.

;) Other than that, it doesn't sound too bad.
