Do digital copys not receive nintendo coins? Cause i don't see any coins from downloading tomodachi life on my account.

Have you linked your 3DS's eShop account to Club Nintendo? You can find it by going on eShop and then in settings. A button for Club Nintendo can be found. It's worth noting that purchasing a downloadable game will make its registration survey appears, usually in less than a day or two.

yeah, you have to link the system to get points for games purchased off the eshop
