How do you feel about this announcement?
Does the price announcement change your purchase plans at all?
Is this what you expected, worse, or better?

Does this ⬇️ push you to preorder?
At launch, the price for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will remain as announced on April 2 at $449.99, and the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle will remain as announced at $499.99. Pricing for both physical and digital versions of Mario Kart World ($79.99) and Donkey Kong Bananza ($69.99) will also remain unchanged at launch.

Ooh, I’m so excited! I was planning to preorder no matter what but I’m glad the prices stayed the same. The accessories are very expensive though

So the prices haven't changed. Some may see this as tyranny, but to me I can manage to buy the Switch 2 + World bundle, hopefully. I have plans to save money on this.

I’m not too upset about the price increases since I wasn’t planning to get any of the accessories. Sure, they’re not good, but I’d rather have that over the system price increasing. Although I think this does kind of confirm tariffs were baked into the base price, lol.

I'd imagine the launch units are already within USA borders in warehouses.

Pleasantly surprised that the price for the console itself has remained the same at launch. I do figure that you're correct, nightglow, that this price will probably only reflect consoles that are already physically within the United States. I expect that, when the 90-day pause ends and the tariffs really go into effect that the price will shoot up and be explained as being because of the tariffs. Alternatively, could be that they're doing a preemptive price reduction now and maintain that price and eat the loss just to get consoles to customers and avoid a worst case scenario.

The only accessory I'd be interested in would be a Pro Controller, but apparently the original Switch Pro Controller still works, so not that urgent. It sucks that the controllers are so expensive though.

Weighing my options about the pre-order. Currently looking into a PC, so not the best timing. Seems like the ideal time to do so if you can manage though.

Hey, you do you! Don't worry about it if it bothers others that you picked up a bundle. It's just a game. And the bundle at launch allows the game to be $50 which is very reasonable! Anyone would normally jump on that if they like nintendo games. And that price point will not stay because there is only so many units in USA right now that bypassed the tariffs.
Just how I see it.

I'm really happy that they haven't changed the prices which means I'll most likely purchase the bundle since I feel like you save money in a sense when you think about buying the Mario Kart game and console separately. I am just worried about being able to get a SD card but I'm hoping that maybe by mid-may I can order one that will be the right format for the Switch 2. I don't have to worry about the pro controller because i'll just use the one I have for my current switch.

I'm pretty excited, but nervous that i won't be able to get one during the presale period.

I’m really curious to see what happens to pricing for amiibo and the GameCube controller. For amiibo specifically, GameStop put them up as $10 more than expected which seems outrageous at first, but I won’t believe it until they actually go up for sale.

they are posted up... or at least they are on walmart's site. I haven't checked GameStop, but since the price change is because of tariffs, I would expect they will be about the same across most stores.

$450 for the console is pretty fair imo

$95 for a controller and $80 for games is crazy

probably won't buy a switch 2 unless those prices come down at some point

I always like to have a second pair of joy-cons but.... the price. I did preorder a Switch 2, but not sure if I will get that second set of controllers. In fact I may be playing only Mario Kart World until some small developers come around.

I know people are complaining about game prices, myself included, but I believe this is the reality of the gaming industry. Prices for the big games are going to go up across the board. I am scared to see what GTA 6 costs.

The price of amiibo are going up as well. I'm on the official Nintendo online store. I'm seeing $30 for the Totk Sidon, Yunobo, Riju, and Tulin. Three Street Fighter amiibo for $40 each.

Considering how much more powerful the Switch 2 is compared to the Switch 1, I am fine with the hardware prices. I imagine it'll still be difficult to find one of these consoles despite the controversy because pre-orders sold out so quickly.
