Hi everyone it is me your local girl with aspergers who goes CRAZY when there are sudden changes to her daily routine (I play ACNL every day but didn't notice the "update game data" until now, and now I'm reading all this stuff about the huge update, and oh BOY is this doing a number on my anxiety...)

1. How the heck do you get these new villagers? IDK what amiibos are, I think I've seen them a few times but I never explored beyond that.

2. If you invite one of these new villagers when you already have 10 villagers, I've heard you'll be asked to boot one of your current villagers, cool cool, but for example in my town Noveon which is 100% complete with paths and stuff, will my new villager move right into the old villager's spot (since that's literally the only space not covered with something)???

3. How is the OLD campsite affected by this? Do the old campsite villagers also allow you to boot a current villager????

4. Does plot resetting still work after this new update? Because I'm not done getting my dreamies for Canimia yet, and I don't do paths until I get all my dreamies, so if plot resetting doesn't work anymore, what do I do so my new dreamies don't wind up in a terrible spot?!

5. I probably have more questions but haven't thought of them yet

1. Here's the official amiibo webpage: http://www.animal-crossing.com/amiibo/#. Basically, they are cards or statues depicting a villager or NPC that contain a little chip. When the chip is scanned (on an amiibo card reader, for an older 3DS model, or right on the screen for a New 3DS), an interactive feature becomes available. You can only scan them at specific times, when prompted, not just while walking around town or something. About one day after downloading the update, you will be able to find a lamp in your town. Wisp the ghost lives in the lamp. If you speak to Wisp, he will give you the option to scan an amiibo. If you scan a figure, that character's RV will show up in your new campsite. If you scan an NPC's card, they can give you their picture or a random item, but won't appear in the campsite. If you scan a villager's card, you can ask them to move in to your town.

2. It's a myth that they always move right into the old villager's spot. Plot resetting is still possible. Sometimes, but not always, they do display a preference for that area. However, it IS true that villagers no longer plot on paths. Other landscaping (trees, flowers, bushes) still does not prevent move-ins, so if you invited in a new villager, they might plot right where the old one was, OR they might land right in your flower bed.

3. To the best of my knowledge, nothing has changed about the old campsite.

4. As I mentioned earlier, plot resetting does still work. In fact, it's now easier, because villagers won't plot on paths. Sometimes it takes a lot of tries, but it IS possible.

5. Hope this helped!

Thank you SO much...I'm glad plot resetting still works. I was gonna cry if it didn't!

I have a regular old 3DS, so I need an amiibo card reader then?

If you're hoping to use amiibo cards/figures, then yes, that's unfortunately the only way it will work.
