New Square Enix game!

Square Enix announced Mario Basketball. Yes you did just read that right. Nintendo gave them the rights to use Mario in a basketball game. This should be interesting.

No, there is no Gamecube version.

Actually there is no Mario Basketball for GCN, but you can use Mario, Luigi and Princess as a team in Nba Street 2 (I think it's 2)
