New Kirby game from Hal studios

My main gripe with Nintendo is they never lower the prices on their games. I still see them at full price, even on sales. I'd be more inclined to get this, but seeing as I still have a bunch of games to buy, added on that they barely go on sale, I might pass.
That's not always the case... Of course, it's true for most big name Nintendo games, but there are a lot of great, quality Nintendo games that get clearanced out far too soon. I see this happen a lot at work. Many great games have been dropped to clearance prices of $20 and under, and it's a shame. It's great for the consumer, of course, but it's sad to know that a lot of these great games are being clearanced out because no one's buying them. Such games include Animal Crossing: City Folk, Wario Land: Shake It!, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, WarioWare: D.I.Y., The Legendary Starfy, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Rhythm Heaven, and more. It's especially disappointing when we don't get the sequels to some great games localized outside of Japan because they do so poorly in retail. Of course, big name franchises like Animal Crossing and WarioWare/Land aren't anything to worry about, but the smaller, riskier titles and franchises are. Unfortunately, I doubt we'll see another Starfy or Rhythm Heaven game outside of Japan because of this. And we can forget about the second Fire Emblem game for DS, too.

Oh no, a game that people should have played 2 years ago is 20 bucks, what should I do?

I swear.

2011 is Nintendos year.

Not only do we have Black and White coming soon. Legend of Zelda is pumping us with a remake of Orcarina of time set to be the best legend of zelda YET and LoZ Skyward sword. We also have Animal crossing 3DS which could be very good
ON TOP OF ALL THAT we have this?!
My god I might actually have to get a job for all theese gaming WINS which are appearing.

wait, you haven't played Black or White yet? But I thought anyone who cared played it, unless they're strict rule followers.

That's true, but really, Super Paper Mario is still $60 everywhere, and it's what, 3 years old now? It'd be easier for the consumer if older games at least got price cuts. Hell, even Mario Kart DS is still $45.

Where I go to buy games Twilight Princess is still $50 or $40.

There only clearance games in my area aren't Nintendo games, mostly 3rd Parties.

And forget Lunar Calendars, this year is The Year of the Pink Puff!

The reason why Mario games and other big first party Nintendo games don't ever drop in price is because people are always buying them. Unlike most other games, which either don't sell much at all, or only sell good for a few weeks after release, Nintendo's big games continue to sell at a steady pace even years after release. Such games are called "evergreen" titles, and because there's always demand for them, their price stays high. It's simple economics. No company in their right mind is going to lower the price of an item that's selling extremely well. It kinda sucks for us as consumers, but that's just how the retail world works. That's why you take advantage of sales. ;D

That's because all those games are ****, mate.

For real? All the Wii games here are $50 and the DS games are $30. O_o

Playing on an emulator? It isn't the same.
And not everyone understands japanese.

when i saw Warioware: DIY on sale for $25 the weekend it came out, i knew they weren't even concerned about it. i was really close to buying it.

tye, evergreen or not, a game needs to go on sale at some point. i've made this point before about SSB Melee, and it's ****ing ridiculous. it isn't good economics, it's raping the consumer's wallet and taking advantage of parents who are trusting the Nintendo-brand without looking into things.

i love mario kart as much as an average person, and i love a good handful of games nintendo makes, but i would buy a used xbox before i payed full price for mario kart DS, or super smash bros. melee. (which i have played more than any person should)

i understand where you're coming from, but it simply existing does not make it right, it just makes it so. you can defend nintendo if you want, but i severely doubt that there are enough people still buying the games to warrant the price being that high. the only thing that keeps the price up is that it's a nintendo product, as opposed to another company's. it's all nintendo has to fight back with at this point, but that doesn't make it any more right.

That was my point though. How can I take advantage of a sale, if the games that I want aren't on sale? Evergreen or not, there's a point where you need to lower the price of a game. See: Super Smash Bros. Melee. I still see it at some stores, priced at $45.
