New 3ds or New 3ds XL

New 3ds, not xl. I hear that both the screen and the size of the regular N3DS are slightly larger than the original 3DS, so it doesn't feel like a regular sized ds. Also, you can get faceplates, that's enough to sell it to me!

I'll be getting the "regular" new 3ds since the XL isn't any different size wise on screen. Also face plates LEL

I will be getting the New 3DS XL as I never got an original XL and don't want to lose out on getting one because the New 3DS has faceplates. Now I am waiting for it to be announced for North America and for a good bundle...

I'd say it's ultimately up to your personal preference. Do you value having large screens and thick stylus over a more compact build, interchangeable plates and the fact it's a bit more wallet-friendly? If yes, you should be after the XL model. Even the standard New 3DS model is a fine choice, especially because it's much more ergonomic than the original 3DS.

XL. I would rather have a larger screen than faceplates, especially since I'm highly unlikely to change it.

As long as there's a red 'new' XL, I'm fine.

the regulars have the face plates and the LL has the limited editions I really like that white and face plates though I'm thinking the normal one

You should go with the one that you think you'll stick with the longest, you probably won't buy a bunch of faceplates if you're on the other thread complaining the Amiibo cost too much and don't do enough for you

i don't plan on getting the new 3ds, but i'd def get the regular if i were you. customization would be fun! i'd love collecting face plates.

I'm not planning to buy the new 3ds but I'd go for the reg.
Does anyone know if the new 3ds will play Ds/DSi games?

Ahh...
Then what's really new about it o.o? Other than a few buttons moved around and another analog stick.
The power of the CPU and GPU has been doubled, allowing for not only games but the system's functionalities (eShop, Miiverse) to process faster. Due to that increase in power there will also be games that are exclusive to the New 3DS. It has built-in amiibo support. The 3D function features head tracking so it doesn't go out of focus when you're not looking straight at the screen. Also, all the new buttons and the C-stick are from the Circle Pad Pro, meaning you don't have to lug around another big part just to more comfortably play games like Monster Hunter and Super Smash Bros.

As for the topic of which one to pick, I was thinking about it for a while and I'd honestly rather get the XL. The swappable covers are neat, but I prefer the bigger screens. I also wouldn't constantly be swapping out my covers.

If i ever do get a new 3ds i would be conflicted. I like the changing face plates but the larger screens are really nice and downsizing would be hard. The gloss finish isn't my favorite though (reason i didn't want a regular 3ds). I recently purchased my XL though so i probably won't get a new 3ds/3ds xl until the price goes down. I wonder when the states will get the announcement dates

I won't be getting one as of now, but I might if they release a main series Pokemon Game for it. If I were to get though, I would go for the XL since it has a much high end look to it. And aside from that, I can't go back to smaller screens after using the XL for over a year. The larger screen it a big advantage. I carry a bag around, so the size is not an issue, but the regular one is more pocketable.
