I'm probably the biggest Animal Crossing hoarder ever. 3 of my museum exhibits are storage rooms, my house looks like a mess, I have a whole ton of gyroids buried in front of my train station, and my storage filled up within a couple days. xD I tried wrapping some things and putting them in letters, that helped a bit, but does anyone know any inventory control tips or any other places to store items?

I only save things I cant re-order from the catalog. Anything I can order I just get rid of to save space. Why don't you sell your doubles and things you aren't planning to use anytime soon.

When I did a clean up of my storage, I sold off my reorderables and kept the unorderables in the museum exhibits. For furniture sets that I couldn't part with, I stored them away on my second character.

I have two full rooms of Gracie clothing in the museum. I only keep the orderable clothing items that I like.
Check the phone ten minutes before the mail arrives. Found out the lucky item and if I don't have I order it.
The special non DLC items and special pictures gets saved to the mail.

I just went thru all the players mail and did removed a lot of items. The orderable DLC items and hard to find items went to my other town. I have an empty house and I'm setting it up with those items and a lot of clothing. As soon as I'm done it will be the showcase house for the town. Just need to add the Campus series first.
It's also a town where my other two towns can visit if they need a clothing item in a hurry.

I hear you! I'm SUCH a horder! It's insane! X_X

What I do is sell the items I can reorder from the catalog but keep the items I cannot reorder and DLC items in my house or the museum.

You could always create 3 more residents so you can have their storages.

Exactly!!! Also, make sure all 3 residents have dressers.

I hear ya xD before I passed all 4 Gracie's fashion checks, I used to save ALL the clothes I could buy from Abel's just in case Gracie shows up.. and gosh, all my closet space was mostly filled with clothes. so one day I finally decided to get organized and got rid of lot of orderables and stuff.. (kept clothing items for each theme). Thank god i'm all done with the fashion checks xD

I still tend to hold on to a lot of stuff, but once in a while I either sell reorderables or store in a museum 2F :3

I used to have this problem, I'd save everything within my locker/wardrobe and I'd have trouble getting rid of stuff. I still find it hard to get rid of things that my villagers have given me, and since they give me a lot of items, it piles up. Then there's things I've been saving to use in my house.

However, I've gotten much better at getting rid of things. I used to have several slots filled with fruit so I just planted the ones I wanted to have in my town and sold the rest. I sold off the reorderable letter paper and the items I'd bought to catalogue (clothes, furniture, etc). Most of what I have is re-orderable anyway, so it's not a big deal to sell it. Don't worry too much about getting rid of re-orderable things, unless you're planning on using them in the near future or just really love them, sell them off.

Right now, what's taking up the most space for me are gyroids. I've transferred some over to my side characters to hold them for me until I have enough patience and room to display them all in my museum and get rid of repeated ones.

There is, of course, also making several alternate characters, and using their storage and rooms. As for me, my hoarding days are over. Along those lines and for the first time, I've had a shop open on this forum for weeks selling stuff.

Thanks for these answers, I will probably make a second character sometime soon. I have some questions about the second character though.
1. Can the second character go into and take things out of the museum exhibits I made with my first one?
2. Does the second character have to talk to the villagers every day like the first one in order for them to not feel ignored and want to move?

Ahhh man, I am such a huge hoarder...but my mayoral life reflects my real life, sadly!! haha. I keep really weird stuff in my storage, and I'm really considering using my secondary characters as storage holders, rather than any actual use. i am only using them for pathway holders right now, so I might as well put them to other uses, as well!
