I am such a scary cat when it comes to roller coaster's that have loops I have always been afraid of getting stuck on them while they are upside down or falling off of your seat. But the reason is why I am wrighting this is cause I am going to busch gardens this September with friends etc.
And I don't want them to think I am a chicken or be left out when they go on a roller coaster so if any one can give me some adivce on how to over come my fear of roller coaster it would be really appreciated,
Just know that accidents are quite rare and they are generally quite safe. You are normally strapped in pretty tightly. I love roller coasters! Maybe try going on the less scary ones first? Have you been on one before? They are so fun.
I'm honestly afraid of heights so naturally roller coasters were a big fear for me when I first started. I closed my eyes on some of the rides because I was too scared to actually see what was going on. Eventually I decided to open my eyes and enjoyed the thrill of the roller coaster. Do they still scare me now? Absolutely! I am terrified of the Millennium roller coaster, but I love riding it because my fear makes it even more enjoyable. As for roller coasters getting stuck, I mean it happens, but chances are that it happens to you and on a loopty loop part are pretty slim. Plus, you can start out on roller coasters that strap you in with that bar that goes over your shoulders and body so there's no way to fly out.
Start with baby rides. Try small rides, not even a roller coaster. Work up slowly. Maybe a kiddie coaster. Take breaks as needed. You won't manage this in a day, but maybe you can build courage to get on some rides with your friend.
I'm sure they won't think you're a coward. Everyone has something that terrified them, and roller coasters are a common fear. At least you are trying!
Maybe when your friends go on the scarier ones you can avoid going on it, either by saying you don't feel well enough to go on such a fast one or saying you need the toilet or are buying stuff while they're on it
most people would understand if you're a bit scared of going on the loop de loops and want to skip that ride, and if they dont wellll they're just being mean everyone's scared of something.
i'm exactly the same way as you. work your way up from gentle rides to more thrilling ones. as for coasters, i would start with the wooden one. it's usually basic, just an up and down and not very high. then maybe work your way up to a taller or steeper one. as for loops, i too used tto fear falling out of them. don't hype yourself up before you go on! and the loops only last an instant and you won't notice them c:
Have you ever been on the loopty loops? They're not that bad once you try them! In fact they're not even scary to me anymore; I was once afraid of them. Trust me, once you get over them, you'll want to go on all the other scary rides!
trust me, you're not going to be left out or judged being scared :/ these days nobody cares about what other people want to do or dont want to do, they'll understand. if they dont, they probably wont care in the end and let you be. accidents rarely happen anyways, just try going on a simple looking roller coaster if you need to
I was the same way, but let me tell you, loops are so fun! Plus, they only last about a second, so it provides a quick adrenaline rush. Really, all you have to do is go. Facing your fears, especially on things like roller coasters, is really rewarding. Good luck!
I used to be just like you! I wouldn't even go on the mine train at six flags! I got over it when I was at hershey park with my friends and my camp. They told me that the rollercoaster (Fahrenheit) didn't have loops. They lied. It had like 20 flips @_@ LIARS I HATE YOU. Anyway, it was SOOOO FUN and now I go on everything xD Accidents are super rare and getting stuck upside down in loops wouldnt even be that much of a problem. Humans can survive upside down for a LONG time.
Honestly close your eyes if the upside down parts are the only thing that scare you, you literally won't even know when they happen if you have your eyes closed. But even with your eyes open you like can't even tell you are upside down and they go so fast there's like 0 chance the coaster could break down while you're in the loop. Overall don't be scared they are called thrill rides for a reason so of course they are supposed to make you nervous and whatever but youre definitely not going to get hurt or die on one so just have fun when you're there! And honestly if you really don't want to go on something don't torture yourself just don't do it. I like roller coasters for the most part but generally I could take em or leave em so if it's really gonna stress you out or upset you it's probably not worth it, and your friends are asses if they give you a hard time about it
The best way to overcome any fear is to face it head-on. Just keep telling yourself that the people who design both the amusement park rides and safety features know what they're doing, and that accidents are very rare in this day and age. If needed, start with a coaster that's on the smaller side and work your way up to the more daunting rides. The first time will be the hardest, but you may end up having a really great time and feeling silly for being afraid of something that ends up being something you actually enjoy! Roller coasters really are a ton of fun and I'm almost positive you'll have a great time if you just force yourself to go for it.
Also, don't be afraid to be open about your fears to your friends. Everyone's afraid of something, and I doubt they'll be too harsh about it. I guess you could always say you had a headache or something if you find yourself so petrified you can't get on the rides and don't want to explain your phobia, but I think you should just face your fears and make the most of your trip.
Step 1: You need to get on a roller coaster, you'll never conquer your fear on the ground.
Step 2: Actually, before step 1, probably pick one out first.
Step 3: Ride it, don't chicken out!!!
Honestly, I love roller coasters now, but when I was a kid they terrified me. 60 ft drop then? Hell no. 60 ft drop now? Can we go higher? But the more I rode them, the better they became for me. Don't worry if you're scared at first, you don't have to go big or go home, there's tons of smaller kidder coasters that can be just as fun... ;-}
Thanks guys for your advice I will try some of the smallest roller coaster that has only one loop first to see how it is. Then if I enjoy I may move on up tot he rest of them eventually lol...
I used to be terrified of those long pole things that would slowly raise then suddenly drop down at high speeds... but I still went on anyways because I told myself to flip it and just do it for the experience.
This may not be the best advice, considering you most likely aren't stupid like I was, but bring a friend for support and just scream the entire time. I remember screaming so much that the ride was pretty much over once I calmed down.
Once again, it's not the best advice, but it's the best I can give you. So put on your brave cap and just buckle up I guess! xD
It really helps to over come the fear with friends. Having a seat next to eachother , take your shoes off or glasses, other stuff etc. that fear of nothing to lose really helps take stress off when enjoying the ride. The thrill is really worth it!
