To avoid that sick feeling in my stomach, I usually hold my breath c: I'm a little scared of roller coasters but I've been on a few crazy ones. Can't say I feel any kind of thrill riding them though :/ if you aren't up to it then don't let you're friends force or pressure you. Everyone has something they're afraid of u.u so if they laugh at you for being "scared" then y are u even with them lol. Though light teasing is fine =_= cuz I got that too. Hope you have fun though! (Regardless of if you'll be riding any roller coasters) c:
Tips:
1. Go on some smaller ones c: those are actually really fun! Not scary at all since they're meant for kids, but I went on one when I was 15 heh
2. Hold your breath or close your eyes.
3. And yes, accidents rarely happen.
4. Just try it once. I did and it turns out that it wasn't so bad!
5. Perhaps ride with a friend who is also afraid of roller coasters, that's what I did lol
watch youtube videos of roller coasters, then once you feel you're comfortable/confident enough go on one, but only a small one, and then gradually work your way up to bigger ones.
If it makes you feel any better I am terrified of airplanes, but love roller coasters. I don't know why, but taking off, being 30,000 feet in the air, and landing all scare the literal **** out of me. Roller coasters are fine though, and I'm sure if you work your way up from the smaller ones to the bigger ones you'll be fine
scream. really loudly. hold on tightly to the restraints and scream until you feel better. it really does help. i'm literally horrified of any rollercoasters that even go slightly upside-down and that works for me.
a few months ago i got dragged on a ride that went upside-down and i didnt know. i screamed until my throat hurt but i at least didnt get that stomach-drop feeling that i hate.
also, dont be afraid to ask the person running the rollercoaster to push your seat restraint in more if you feel unsafe. i've asked multiple times for the bored teenager with a parttime job to tug on my restraint a little because it feels too loose. better safe than sorry, i guess?
it's super uncommon for people to get in freak accidents though, i always remember the statistic of "you're more likely to get struck by lightning in a concrete room padded with rubber than you are to die in a rollercoaster accident" whenever i get nervous.
God, I have friends who are litteraly roller coaster junkies. If you don't want to go on something scary then don't, I usually don't do rollercoaster s if they're huge. Just tell your friends and they'll understand. Now, if you do want to go on a huge one, then work your way up with kiddie rides. They'll get rid of your fear quickly. Also, just a tip, drink plenty of water and do not, DO NOT eat fast food. Pack some lunch if you need to, amusement park food is crappy as hell.
