Need advice on plot resetting and character used

My problem:

I invited Marshal to move in my town from someone's town using my mule character (4th character).

I want to plot reset for the his plot for proper placement, but I'd need to delete that 4th character that invited Marshal to do that.

If I delete the character that invited Marshal in, would Marshal still move in? Or would the history of inviting Marshal to move in be deleted along with the 4th character ( i.e. Marshal doesn't move in at all)?

Sorry if it's confusing. Thanks to anyone in advance who can clear up stuff for me.

I'm not 100% about inviting from another town but I used a mule character to invite someone from the campsite then I immediately deleted that player. The villager still moved to my town but again I'm not sure if it'll work the same with inviting from another town.
