Natural dirt paths?

I'm wanting to do natural dirt paths for my town.

What's the quickest way to get them? Running over them with the same character or multiple characters? And will grass deteriorate with the beautiful town option? Do I need to switch it off?

Running on grass is all that matters but only on where you want the paths.
No ordinance prevents this.

I usually redo my dirt paths in the winter as you see the progression more.

I just line the paths I want with flowers and then over time running through them works
