@ my villagers: stop calling randos my friends!!

I swear, every time someone comes to my island to pick something up I was selling or whatever, my villagers NEVER shut up about them! Like, no, Penelope, I am not "totes besties" with that person who came over and picked up a K.K. Slider song I was selling!

They should really patch this out so that they only talk about people on your friends list! I hate talking to my villagers only to find that the only thing they have to talk about is what great friends I must be with a person I talked to once.

Maybe I’m the odd one here, but I really like this feature. Sometimes people have the bests names and hearing them come out of my villagers mouths makes me laugh.

Ooof... weird thing to rant about, but I totally agree... Idk what Nintendo was doing when they made the villager dialog for New Horizons. It's way more shallow than in NL. the dialog is very repetitive and it seems like Nintendo just added dialog for villagers that would describe any old boring thing that may have happened, like how I hit a bunch of rocks yesterday. In NL you could talk to a villager and ab 40% of the time they'd spring some quest or game on you like hide-and-go-seek or a visit to your house. Brah ftw

Perhaps it would be better if a villager first ask you what kind of relationship you have with the person who visit you recently before they calling them automatically your "friend" and remember your answer for later conventions? Personally, it doesn't bother me that much, as my villagers don't mention so often other people actually, but I do understand that this may be a bit annoying for others.

Ughhh, I have the same issue with rocks. My villagers are always complaining about me being noisy hitting rocks all day. I was not hitting them all day. I hit them all 8 times in succession, which only takes a couple of minutes, but it's all they ever talk about! I miss the quests and games and visits...

ohhhh yeah. I bought NL after I bought NH because I heard that the villagers had so much more personality and it's so frikin true. I love playing hide and go seek with Ricky or being able to hear about someone wanting to move out -- that actually happened today, Gayle told me that Ricky wanted to leave the town and I should talk to him xD

I totally agree, it’s so annoying because I only traded with that person one time and they mention them like we are friends even though they don’t come to my island on a regular basis! Nintendo was definitely slacking off when putting the dialogue of villagers in NH

Afaik your villagers only mention vistors once after they leave. I don't think it's that big of a deal for them to patch out.

I really hate this too. They always talk about random people I've traded with but rarely my actual friends. And they visit almost daily! I noticed that when I trade less frequently they just talk about recent visitors from my friends list for the most part. But still!

I've always hated villagers talking about people I've traded with.

In NH though, I don't give a crap because I avoid my villagers for the most part.

I... don't find it annoying at all? It makes me chuckle. Besides, from my experience, they rarely mention them. And no one is ever mentioned more than once.

But, I mean, how are you going to expect these innocent little animals to understand the complexities of online trading?

This annoyed me first, but I realized that is usually happens only once per visitor and then everyone moves on. I don't think I had anyone visit my island in a while, so it hasn't happened lately.

i’m not super annoyed by this but it’s also not great. i do a lot of trading so 9/10 times when my villagers bring up a visitor, i’ll be left looking at my screen like “” because i cant remember who that is lmao

It's only really bothered me once when I traded with people (not here, on reddit) who had a really offensive names and/or island names and it was awful having my sweet villagers say such things

This isn’t like, a huge problem to me but I do find it annoying to hear them talk about random people. I only like it when it’s people I actually know, so I agree with you that I wish it was just people on your friends list!! This is actually why people used to say not to talk to their villagers if you visited their NL town—because then the villagers would start talking about you. But now in NH all it takes is to visit someone’s island and, whether you talked to anyone or not, the villagers there are gonna talk about you. Such a weird and unnecessary change imo :/

This is a mimute detail that never really bothered me but u can definitely see why it would! It is kind of weird, if they only mentioned people on one best friend list as our friends that would make a lot more sense lol! You could even make the dialogue more creative with the villagers being sceptical of the visitor lol
